Certain aspects of this story seemed like a possible intro of new regular characters such as Jeff Lanier (https://www.hardyboyscasefiles.com/encyclopedia.php?entry_id=2219) and Teri Yarnell (https://www.hardyboyscasefiles.com/encyclopedia.php?entry_id=2228). I don't recall either of these two ever making another appearance though.
