Title: Galaxy X Spoiler Board
Post by: tomswift2002 on March 19, 2009, 03:32:43 PM
Okay, considering that Double Deception contains a sneak-peek for Galaxy X, I decided to setup a spoiler board for the book.

When I was reading the teaser, I noticed that the Hardy Boys are being sent as radio contest winners to the park.  Didn't the boys just happen to also "win" a pair of tickets in Top Ten Ways To Die or even on Bayport Buccaneers

Plus, an X-games place with roller coasters and an amusement park atmosphere?  Doesn't that sound an awful lot like Extreme Danger, or how about even Digest #113 Radical Moves, and UB #4 Thrill Ride or even #10 Blown Away?

Plus, even the "threats" that the manager receives...haven't we heard of stars getting email death threats in Death and Diamonds and Deprivation House or even Double Trouble, and even Warehouse Rumble (from the Digest line)?

Also, when did ATAC start sending the Hardy's cases on CD or DVD?  Last time that I checked, ATAC sent the boys cases on a game disc of some sort that the boys could play on a computer, a Wii/Xbox type machine, or even a PSP type machine.  Of course, the discs usually rewrite and reformat themselves into regular Audio CD's.

Not more threats! If this trend continues, I'm going go with the masses and send some threats. To S&S.

Doesn't sound very promising, although I didn't have high hopes since I read the plot summary on Amazon a few months back.

Well, I think these are supposed to be state of the art, high-tech multi-platform disks that you can play on just about any thing.

Today at work a bunch of us were talking about old detective TV shows, like the 1977 Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries and Dragnet 1967 and even the old 1951 Dick Tracy live action series, and how in those series we didn't see in every episode a murder or the tossing around of body parts, like we see in CSI and Cold Case.

And I guess that Simon & Schuster is trying to follow that with the new Hardy Boys series.  Reuse one plot device.  Funny thing is, as I recall from the Peggy Hertz book, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys (Scholastic 1977, also known as The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew from 1978 onward), in 1975-76 the Networks were finding that the ratings for the old shoot'em up detective shows were starting to go down, and when the 1977 Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries debutted, the ratings for the show were at the top of the charts.  So, I wonder if the murder plots that we are seeing in everything from TV to Hardy Boys books, are close to coming to an end, since I think the ratings for shows like CSI are dropping.

Well, ratings on TV are going down across the board. There are many possible reasons for it and sometimes it's just a combination of factors. One reason could be that people like to watch on computers now, or it could be these shows run so long and there's so many of them that people are bored.

I don?t always take high stock into ratings (maybe back in the day, though) because it?s only those who have those Neilson boxes, right?

I know of shows that have bad ratings but keep going because they know that there is a huge audience fanbase because of feedback and so on.

I finished my copy and the story wasn't too bad. For once Frank also teased Joe. I liked how the writer wrote the brothers, lots of kidding and teasing but in a nice way. I didn't even mind the non-ending since this is a trilogy. Let's hope the second book is good also.

Double Trouble is pretty good. At least, I think it's a good way to start off the trilogy.

I say skip all the books of the Double Trouble trilogy, except the last one.

That sounds kind of like a line from a cheesy movie. :D

On the back cover of Galaxy X, the mission location is "sunny California", but inside, it is clearly stated that the new park is on North Carolina's outer banks--maybe it's a misprint or did I miss something?

It takes place off the Carolina coast, opposite side of the US from California.

Just finished reading my copy. There was a lot of action in this one I must say. And for once I didn't know who the culprit was halfway through the book. I had my suspisions but it wasn't till a fourth of the way to the end that I figured out who it was. Joe was still a dork complaining how the girls seemed to like Frank better than him but all in all I thought the book was rather good.

I got mine a few days ago and finished it the same day. Suprisingly I liked it. I thought it would be the same, but it was a little different. I liked the ending. A couple of stupid things for me is the bomb (If the HBs didn't read the email, what would the point of it have been?) and at the end, they're like "Did you throw the rock?" and he's like "No." And they're like "Case open!  :o " ::) Anyway, 8.3 out of 10 for me. ;D I told my lil sis to read it and she just was like whatever...

I can totally relate with Joe. Guys seem to like my BFFs better than me. Oh, well. Life goes on.

I mean, in Top Ten Ways to Die, when Joe was around Vee, he wasn't flirty, and she really liked him.

I'm currently reading the first book of the Galaxy X trilogy, and already the book is so full of illogic that it makes me wonder how the author even managed to write it.  WIthin the first 10 chapters the author has already mentioned that the local police, FBI and CIA aren't even aware of what is going on at the theme park, and yet the music producer, apparently, called up ATAC himself to have them investigate what was going on???

Okay...did I miss something, or when did ATAC start to be listed in the Blue Pages under Government Police Services?  I thought that ATAC was suppose to be a very "top secret" organization, but going by this book it appears that ATAC is mentioned in a phone book.  Even in the Casefiles universe, Espionage Resources was listed in the phone book, but under an assumed name.  Somehow I would think that another "Top Secret" organization would use an assumed name in the phone book.

Otherwise...the story is intersting, but is getting very repetitive, considering that in the last trilogy the author's also had a group of protestor's as the supsects in the books.

Boy did books 1 & 2 ever fly by fast---but book 3 has come to a screeching halt.  What has happened?  Did the author just think that the trilogy would carry itself along on its own built up steam?  With Books 1 & 2 I like how Book 2 picked up nearly to the minute where Book 1 left off, but with Book 3, right from the first page, it feels just so disconnected from the rest of the trilogy, and feels more like a book from the rest of the series.  Plus I'm finding that the story is just too confined, since I'd like to see the Hardys go outside the park to the nearby town and see if they could dig up more information on their bad guy or even more information on the battles that the owner of the park had to fight when proposing the park to city officials, etc.  Right now Book 3 is mostly just Frank and Joe walking to each ride/show, talk to someone from the owner's family, then walk to another ride/show and talk to a celebrity/owner's family member.  Frank and Joe are not really doing any detective work in this book.

I just finished reading book 3 and I thought it was just a rehash of Books 1 & 2. Frank and Joe go over what happened in the first two books. There is some action but I hate to admit that I have to agree with Tomswift and say this one just didn't cut it. The culprit was somewhat of a surprise though I did have a inkling in the first book but the way that one and the second one were written it made me drop that notion all together. It was an okay read although I didn't read straight through like I did the first two.
