Post by: tomswift2002 on February 21, 2020, 08:50:09 AM
I was just on Simon & Schuster's Canadian site, and I saw that they are advertising for a September 2020 release a box set of the first 10 Hardy Boys Adventures called the Special Collection

Now then, what's interesting is that all 10 books will be receiving ALL-NEW cover art that will be only available in this set.

That is interesting. It seems kinda weird for the current Hardy Boys series to get redesigned covers. I would expect that more of the original series. Maybe this is an attempt at rebranding and remarketing?

Possible. In North America, With the exception of the first 8 G&D volumes from a few years ago, the last book to have a cover redesign was "Ghost Stories" in 2002, and before that it was #88 "Tricky Business" (1988) in 1992.  Between 1979 & 1992, for volumes #59 to #88 all got a second cover, and most 3 covers.  In terms of release time, "The Apeman's Secret" was only out for a year in 1988 with its second cover, before it got its 3rd cover in 1989.

I wonder what the covers will look like?   Honestly, I like the latest covers better than any since the original Casefiles covers.

Agreed. Of the recent Hardy Boys series, I have liked the Adventures books covers the best. (By "recent", I mean anything beyond the end of the Casefiles and Digests.)

Thanks for the cover art. It's kinda cool, I guess- but I don't see that it was necessary. I hope that won't be the standard look going forward though. I prefer the cover style currently in place that actually features The Hardy Boys in scenes from the books rather than this style that just has abstract concepts from the books.
