The 34th title in The Hardy Boys Undercover Brothers series has been revealed on Amazon.com (http://www.hardyboyscasefiles.com/store/index.php?isbn=1442402628). The book, entitled ''Children of the Lost'', is the first part of the Lost Mystery Trilogy that will start in May 2010.

Thanks to MacGyver (http://www.hardyboyscasefiles.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=403) for letting us know about the cover and tomswift2002 (http://www.hardyboyscasefiles.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=169) for letting us know about the book title.
This is honestly one of the most interesting titles I have seen yet.
Yes, that's what I thought, too.
Funny thing is, the only description from the publisher on all the bookstore websites is that the trilogies are "more mysterious than ever with three-book arcs". Yeah right.
And I must say that The Children of The Lost sounds more like the title that you'd find on a horror/scifi movie/book rather than a mystery book.
Very interesting title....
I'm beginning to wonder if The Children of the Lost is the actual title of the next book, or if it won't materialize. I was just informed that S&S is going through another round of cutbacks (and in the process firing the last senior editor of the Star Trek line), so with this book why might not know if it is going to be out till it is out on bookstore shelves.
Yes, the future of the series is very much in question, right now.

I think I was trying to say, before I got interrupted with something else and accidentally hit the "Post" button, that with the way that Simon & Schuster seems to be cutting jobs and different things right now, especially hitting such strong sellers for S&S as the
Star Trek line, I'm in agreeance with your summation that the series is definitely in question, just like I was posting in my prior post.
Plus the title just doesn't seem like the type of title that fits on a Hardy Boys book. As I said it sounds more like a horror title, or even, by a long shot, a title to some religious book.
So right now I'm not putting that much "faith" in this 'newly' released title.
What would it be--the Lost Trilogy? Children just doesn't seem to fit.
Or maybe the title is simple a message of what is to come--the UB series is given up as a lost cause, and all we are left with is the Secret Files children's series... :)
I'm thinking it's the "Lost Trilogy", too.
Welcome Mystrygirl87.. Hey SDL and Skywarp, hows Hardy boys doing. Didn't tomswift2002, and I can't remember that crazy ones name.. Oh yeah Nzone said IT WAS DONE... WHAT HAPPENED WITH THAT?? There has to be a market to sell it to. Right? Cause if everyone talked bad of it, that why would it sell. It needs the "twitter effect"

I rember with the Fear Street Sega that two more books were suppoesed to be published, and were even annoced on Amazon, but never were published. This could be a phantom title, one that is annoced but is never published. The title sounds very odd to me. Unless this is some speical trilogy that will be the last books in the Ub series. I don't think this book will be published. And the buget cuts won't help eather.

Uh, interesting word choice. I don?t know why you would say ?crazy?.
Hope we get them. These could be the best books since those Trilogys began.
Yes What an Interesting Word Choice...
It really stands out
Whats the crazy ones name..
Lol I love making you all go CRA-Z... LOL Another interesting word... Look I'm probably not gonna be on here for a while so if anyone wants to argue about junk on this site.. PM me, then I will get it..
Hello "sparkles" i am not sure exactly which user you are.. I think I have an idea but I won't say it..

I?m also the one who made up
The Young & the Restless: Forum Wars (all in fun). You can tell who I am by looking at the title under my username (IIC #1).
?and I?m from Canada too.

One more time - our titles are always there:
IIC #1 = Olivia
IIC #2 = FJA
IIC #3 = JHR
...because having the same user names for more than a week would be too easy.
Yes it would.
This sounds like a movie I've seen.......
OK, me too then, #3.
We usually keep our ?themes? for about a month. The changing of the usernames was only more recently, and we don't always do that (even though I have always regularly changed my username).
Again, we keep our titles: that never changes. Plus "who's who" is written in the first post of the IIC topic. I think people are just trying to bother us on purpose now :P
Anyways, how come whenever I go slightly off-topic in one post it?s pointed out, but everyone else is allowed to go post after post in several topics? ::)
Cause we like everyone else better.
Ha ha ha :P
As the Killer Mystery Trilogy turned out to be about a private school, I'm guessing this trilogy is oging to be about sabbotoge on a sci-fi or horror movie set, or it's going to be another death threats on a reality show trilogy. You can probaily guess that I have very low expetations for this trilogy.
What!?! Really? Low expectations I would have never have geussed.

I have to go with Dinosaur Dan on this one. S&S have really built themselves up a bad track record, particularly with these past trilogies. I mean, how many times can you kill the whole reality-tv-or-gameshow-host-gets-threatened-and-the-Hardys-have-to-find-out-whodunit thing before it stays dead? I don't know if I'll be able to stomach another awfully-planned trilogy about reality tv, gameshows, or amusement parks. The whole reality television/ gameshow topic used to be my favorite one for a Hardy mystery. Now, I just can't wait for it to end.

I remember back in 2004 when
Warehouse Rumble was released in the
Hardy Boys Digest line how people were surprised that the story was about a reality TV show, since none of the Hardy Boys-TV-Themed stories in the past had dealt with that type of TV show. You know it was a "new" idea to the series. And even then that was the only story to deal with reality TV, and the next story had the Hardy's finding out who had stolen a new invention. The stories were released with a different story coming out each month.
But with the UB's, it just feels like it is the exact same story being reprinted every two months.

Only the Digests probaby could have sold the same story two times in a row and the plot still be feasible and engrossing. I'm beginning to doubt that the UBs could sell 100 new ideas and the stories remain feasible and/or believable. >:(
According to Amazon.ca CHildren Of The Lost is apparently apart of the Lost Mystery Trilogy.

Lost Mystery Trilogy???? Doesn't sound too promising. Have the UB's finally Lost the Mystery in the series???
Of course, right now Children of the Lost is sitting (as of October 13, 2009) on Amazon.ca's Hardy Boys Bestseller's list at #139 ("Hardy Boys") and #84 ("Franklin W. Dixon") and it's not even appearing on the Chapters bestsellers for either "Hardy Boys" or "Franklin W. Dixon".
Thanks for the update, Tom. While I think Children of the Lost is one of the best titles of the series, Lost Mystery Trilogy is one of the worst.
Update: Book two in the Lost Trilogy is going to be entitled Lost Brother, and is due out in September 2010. This title does sound promising.

Lost Brother??? Doesn't that sound suspiciously similar to the second main plot of the
Double Danger Trilogy?
Yes it does, but I'm hoping it means lost Hardy brother. Sadly, I doubt it, though...

Lost Mystery Trilogy?!? Abandon Ship! Abandon Ship! :o
Hey, I'm already in the water. Haven't read a UB from start to finish in almost a year.

Same here, even though I keep collecting them so that I have all the Hardy Boys books.
Man these trilogys are killing the UBs. Mabey someday I'll finish Galixy X.
I'm already in water, I'm just shouting a warning to everyone who's not out of the boat!

The book is actually called "The Children of the Lost" and it's the first book in "The Lost Mystery Trilogy"- sounds pretty cool. :)
OK--that is just an AWFUL job with Photoshop
Well, let's hope the story is better than the cover then. You know the old saying... ;)

Agreed. It just looks weird having Frank and Joe standing in shorts and T-Shirts in front of a forest that seems to be covered in fog. It makes it look like the story takes place in the late-fall/early-spring, and yet Frank and Joe are ready for a day at the beach in the middle of July.

Actually I think the actually book title is
Children Of The Lost, since if you notice what is on the cover of the book there is no "The".
Where's the "the"? ;D
Okay- guess it's just "Children of the Lost". I think that sounds a bit better anyway.
It'll just be a matter of time to see if the story lives up to the title.
Personally, I think it sounds better with the "the". Doesn't make that much of a difference, though.
Casefiles are my favorite but if I wanted to get into one of these new ones...do you have a suggestion as to which one would hook me in the most?

None.
I'm willing to bet that this so called book is probably along the same plot-line as Operation Survival was.... That is the kind of conservative, smart thing that S&S would do.

None.
None? :( Are you saying I should just skip the UBs altogether?
I'd recommend you skip the UB altogether. But if you really want to read them, try the first one, Extreme Danger, or Wanted.
The best series in the Undercover Brothers continuity is Scott Lobdell's graphic novel series, though.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.
But I have to agree with SDLagent: Scott Lobdell's graphic novels are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the regular UB's.
Thanks for the advice!! That saves me a lot of time and money!!
The final book in the Lost Trilogy is to be entitled Forever Lost and will be published in January 2011. Ironic for a series that has definitely "lost it's way".
It's kinda disappointing that the books are coming out every four months instead of every other.
I'm glad. It save me money.

Actually I think this is one of their best storylines ever. I just finished reading the first book and was totally pulled in! The beginning was different and the ending left me gasping! Can't wait for the second book. I hope the writer keeps up the good work.
