Question:
Comic Book Cover Design
Option 1: Traditional (Blue and Gold)
votes: 7
Option 2: New UB Design
votes: 3
Option 3: PC Game Cover Design
votes: 1
Anyone think that the Graphic novels should change their design to match the new UB design or should they continue with the light blue and gold colors?
From a marketing perspective, I have two or three thoughts that go against what I would really like to see, but I am curious what everyone else thinks.
Good question. Trying to picture it.
Well, the bigger words, I think, might look a tad weird for the graphic novel. Maybe because the GNs seems more condensed or something, so it doesn't have as good of a balance? Can't really explain what I mean.
I was thinking about this too. Good question...but I'm not sure.
What do you think, CJ?
PC Game Cover Design.
I like the Traditional. :D
Me too. :D :D ;D :D
I made some adjustments to the current style, which I think improve it slightly for the Graphic Novels...

Very funny.

Agreed. The curve has bugged me forever. Hmmmmmm, let me see if I can do a mock up and see what it looks like.
Here we go, something like this perhaps.

I like the regular way. ;D
Nice job on the manip!
Cool but the box makes it look to much like a single issue instead of a graphic novel.

Really nice. Actually that would look better than the current version, or even your modified version of the current version.

Interesting point. Although I don't totally agree with it, I do think that the yellow box is dated and need to go. I would think the logo and title at the bottom would be good enough and we could put the title and number by themselves.

Your ideas look good, CJ.

Yeah, the curve bugged me too, plus the fact that it says "The Hardy Boys Undercover Brothers" even though the series is called "The Hardy Boys Graphic Novel".
The Curve is da bomb! ;D
What's the big deal with the curve?
I just don't think it looks very good on the graphic novels, looks fine on the UB with the boys heads in it but doesn't look good for the graphics.

With how often you say that word, you should put something like that in your signature ;)
What did you vote for, SkyWarp?
I went with Traditional.

Ha ha, Bigfootman.
I should keep a record. One day every single poster is going to make me at least chuckle. I can feel it.
First I'm going to dump some sugar in my tea to loosen things up. Get those endorphins...
Yeah, anyways, I can't decide on the cover art.

And then as Tim Taylor says, you'll be "epinephrine in your pants!" (The Haunting Of Taylor House, Season 2 Episode 6)
Yeah...I don't know what that means. And I don't know if I want to know. Although I have an educated and probably a correct guess. If you can have a correct guess.

Well, in the episode Tim has just described, how he thinks that the kids will be so frightened in his house of terror that he thinks they'll be wetting their pants out of fear, to Wilson who then talks about epinephrine and then says that it is better known as adrenaline. Then, just before Tim leaves the backyard he tells Wilson to enter through the storm cellar door, Tim makes a comment about how the kids will be epinephrining in their pants from the fright. It's a very funny comment on the show. One of those Tim-screws-up-Wilson's-advice-moments.
Ah. I was half right, especially since that word is sort of made up. But that'll never happen to me.

Actually, its not made up.
Yeah, that's why I said "sort of". Just the context and everything...that can't actually happen from a human...whatev. You know.
Plus I wouldn't/couldn't come up with that kind of phrasing myself.

The new version. I never like covers of any type that have a solid background that covers such a large portion of the cover. Let me see the full sized artwork please!
I kinda like the covers the way they are. I am the exact opposite, I like the big headings with background. And I like the colors too.

I do too! I really don't like the new colors, I like them exactly how they are. :)

When will the UBs ever stop taking ideas from Casefiles?
Over the years there's been lots of Hardy Boys cover that look similar to others.

Yes, but with 3 (I think) books with Casefile titles, and quite a few with casefile like plots, it seems that the UB athors are running out of ideas.
Um, the covers I posted aren't for UB novels.
Yeah ? the GNs aren?t done by the same people as the UBs.
P.S. Frank has blue highlights.

Like he always does.
Pretty much the only way too add value to some one with jet black hair. BTW haven't we seen some brown haired Franks on covers before? (Non-GN stories)
Yes, I think so. Some of the books describe Frank with dark brown hair and eyes.
So what is the fan prefrence, Brown or Black?

Well, after looking at the new style, I like the design, but not the artwork. Well, maybe its not the artwork I don't like, but the colors used. The extra bright and neon colors are not my cup of tea. Bring back the more dark and bold colors from the last few covers, but keep the new design.

Agreed. The covers on #19 aren't bad.
