Anybody think that in the super mysterys that nancy and frank should have been a couple ???
Never read any (original?) SMs so I don?t now, but its kind of weird ??? what happened to Ned or Callie? ??? ??? ???
I;ve never read any with Callie in them, but Ned was in a couple.Usally somehting would happen between Nancy and Frank and then later they would agree it should have never happened and that was the end of it.I think that they should have got together though because they make a good couple and have alot in common.
It seems like something was always getting in the way. Especially Nancey and Ned. I wonder if they will continue that in the new ND/HB books.
I doubt it, considering that both Callie and Iola have, essentially, been written out of the series.
If you want to read a good Nancy/Frank book, check out Last Resort. Also, check out Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys Super Sleuths 2, since some of the stories, like HB and A Trail Of Diamonds are really good Nancy/Frank stories. (Note: Super Sleuths 2 has been out-of-print for about 23 years now, so it is hard to find, especially the Hastings and the original versions).
Iv'e read the last resort and that was really good and I heard of another good nancy/frank book in the 88' series but I can't find the name of it.I read about it on the internet but all it said was that they were solving a case in Eygypt. But it didn't give the title. As for the new ND/HB books Nancy is still dating Ned.But it mention Joe or Frank having girlfriends, and Nancy and Frank did't seem as interested in each other like in the 88' series.
The '88 series book that you are thinking of is Secrets of the Nile. In it, Frank marries Nancy, Joe marries Bess and they go off and spend their honeymoon's in Egypt. It's a classic.

Thanks.I had read about the book on a site but it didn't give the title.
Yeah, Secrets of the Nile is, so far, the first book where the Hardy's get married and have wives.
And that's a hard book to find! I was lucky that I found one in "like" new condition at the library used book store and got it for only twenty-five cents!

Definitly!!! I have allways liked Callie, but she doesn't have as much in common with Frank as Nancy does. I think they should write in a romance between Frank and Nancy in the new hb-nd series.

I'd love them to get together, but I don't think it would work in the newer books. They portray Nancy as more of a tomboy and Frank more of a geek. I'm not calling them that, I just think they depict them that way, unfortunately :-\

Don't forget what they say --- a lot of times opposites attract. I know that I've seen that in quite a few married couples who've been married for years. They still have those opposites that people would think the couple wouldn't be able to use together, but sometimes those opposites are what keep a couple together. Maybe Frank should stay with Callie and Nancy with Ned just to add that other side to the characters that people love.
Wow, you got me with Frank and Nancy being Married! In every book I've read, it seems Nancy always says something like "Even though I have Ned and Frank has Callie, there was something special between us." I would love to see if they actually started liking each other, maybe in the new ND HB Undercover Brothers?
Somehow, I doubt it, since S&S made Frank be really annoyed over the fact that Nancy knew about ATAC, and just the way Frank acted towards her, S&S made it feel like Frank thought Nancy had a really bad case of the flu (or the cooties), and Frank just didn't want to be around her.
I think Ned's too much of a nerd. That's probably why Keene called him that. (Ne[r]d)
You may be on to something, Mirage! :P I only wish wew could know why characters are named what they are.
I'm definitely going to write Keene and ask her about Nerd... I mean Ned. :D

I bet you did'nt read Danger Overseas! In that one, Frank is sleepy and when Nancy wakes him up, he accidently says, "You're pretty." to her.Joe seems to like Nancy more in Terror on tour, but Frank seems to like her more in Danger Overseas. In Operation Survuval, Frank makes a reference to her.

What about Ned? She could dump him, could'nt she? ;D
Not after 70+ years! :o
I just kinda doubt the authors will make them a couple, although they should be, and like in the '88 supermysterys them not being a couple really got me to want to read the next book, just to see what would happen between them.
Although in the UB's, Frank isn't dating anyone (which may be an opening for Nancy), and Nancy did have that big fight with Ned in #24 (that really seemed to annoy her), so I guess it could happen. Let's hope so! :)
Did Nancy have the fight with Ned in the Girl Detective series, or the ND Graphic Novels?

Girl Detective. They had one in Murder on the Set (#24), and Nancy got mad at him in #21 (Getting Burned?), but it wasn't really a fight.

Why did she get mad at him? :)
Well, Dierdre Sahnnon thought that Ned was sending her love letters (which he wasn't), so she asked him to go to a dance with him, and he was too nice to say no so he went. In the end Nancy and Dierdre find out it wasn't Ned after all, and Ned said he was never serious about Dierdre, and Nancy forgives him and drops it.
Oh, yeah, I remember reading that one!
They will probably not go there (pairing Nancy/Frank). They'll just continue with the hints and such. It would kind of mess things up for their individual series (ND:GD and HB:UB) anyways, and I'm sure that there are a lot of Nancy/Ned fans too). Oh well.
Yeah, probably. They would have made a good couple, though... :-\
Yeah, I like them. But what will happen to Ned and Callie then? Will they hook up? Just kidding, sort of...

LOL... That would certainly make an interesting series! ;)
That would be cool, but Nancy dosen't live anywhere near Bayport, which would make that kind of difficult...
Well, they could all go to the same college. Or when they're older, who knows what coule happen.
Okay, I think I'm really digging deep into this now! I have an answer for everything lol.

Not that I know of, but I do know that Nancy did dump Ned in the
Nancy Drew On Campus series back between 1995 and 1997.
Did they ever get back together? Or did she get a new boyfriend? ???

Throughout history, different people from different towns and countries have gotten involved in romantic relationships that have even led to marriage while living kilometers apart.

They never got back together, and she had several other boyfriends after that.
I think it depends on the series whether or not they seem to be a good match. I mean, can you imagine Nancy from the Originals and Frank from the Originals together ??? :-\
Actually, I like Ned in the Originals and the ND:GD series. But he seems a tad mismatched to her in the ND:GD series because Nancy is kind of out of character. (Okay, I know it was modernized, so technically they can write her how they want but I don't care - she was updated in the Files, and that was different from the Originals, but it still was done well). I like Nancy/Ned in the GNs, though.
So I guess I'm more lenient for them in the Casefiles/Files/Supermysteries universe. Then again, I should read more so I can get to know Ned better in those and the dynamic he brings.
And I'm undecided about all the present series because of some of the changes.

They get "married" in
Secrets of the Nile, so Frank and Nancy go off as Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hardy, while Joe and Bess go off as Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hardy.
i know, i was jk
This made me LOL.
Nancy passed out from the smoke of a fire that had her trapped in a room.
Quote"What happened?" Joe was crying.
"The room's full of fumes." Frank's voice was tight with worry. "Somebody jam that air-conditioning vent!"
Frank and Joe, she thought, her anxiety subsiding. They came through again...
A solid male hand closed around her. Sighing thankfully, she murmured, "Frank--"
Then her eyes fluttered open, and Nancy looked into the stricken face of Ned Nickerson!
Come on, though! She heard Frank and Joe's voices, so what do you expect? ::)
That's pretty good! LOL What book is it from?
The Last Resort
mystery chick! You jumped the gun! :D
It's from Dangerous Games.
Whoops! :-[
It's been a long time since I read that one! ;)
Sorry :)

I think this would be better suited in the "Old ND HB crossovers" and "What Have You Read? What's Your Favourites" threads :)
Overall, I haven't read that many, and also it depends if you are looking for more Nancy/Frank interaction or other things.
Secrets of the Nile is always hailed as one of if not
the best (as it's been said on this board).
Operation: Titanic you can see in it's own thread. I don't know anything about the other two!

Question of Guilt puts the Hardy's at odds with Nancy, while
Islands of Intrigue has the detectives in Greece working for the Network.

Well, if you want to read a book where Frank and Nancy
do kiss, check out
The Last Resort from 1989.
You should also remember that the
Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys SuperMystery'88 series was written for Junior High-High School audiences (Grade 7 and up). So scenes like Frank and Nancy kissing were thrown in, and, especially in the SuperMystery'88 series, the sexual tension between Frank and Nancy and Joe and Bess was raised to a higher level than it had been in the
Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Be A Detective and Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys Super Sleuths! series, and the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Campfire Stories book. It was even higher than what was shown on the 1977 TV series.

tomswift2002 - I can't believe you used the words "sexual tension". I would think "romantic tension" is sufficient. Lol.
Yeah ... that sexual tension from the HBs. ::) Right after that could you do a review of Gossip Girl ::)
As I was reading The Last Resort, I just happened to think of a couple of reasons why Nancy/Frank is best. And then I somehow kept thinking of more. I only thought of these in a span of five minutes (believe it or not).
Reasons why Nancy/Frank are best:
1. Frank is a better version of Ned.
2. They can read each other's minds.
3. They always have the same perspective/same line of thinking.
4. They finish each other's sentences.
5. They make a good team.
6. They have the same priorities (i.e. morals, cases).
7. They compliment each other.
8. Callie is no match for Frank.
9. Ned is no match for Nancy.
10. Because when they're together, the reader knows it's right.
11. They have unconditional trust & can count on each other, and support one another.
12. Because they have fun.
13. They hold each other in high esteem (probably even more than most people in their lives).
14. Because the possibilities are endless (i.e. they could open up a P.I. business with Joe).
15. Because they would make one big happy family (Drews / Hardys).
16. Because they are two of the greatest teen detectives of all time.
17. Because they long for each other.
18. Because they are equals.
19. Because fate brought them together & continues to have them "accidently" meet up.
...and, I think I've been reading too many message boards. Cue the music.
And Frank is waaaaayyyy better than Nerd... Great reasons Livia!
Lol, thanks!
And that's a good compliment for Frank, too, because I know how you still somewhat consider him a nerd - especially considered to Joe, who is the coolest of the cool ;)
Bingo. :D
Frank's only a nerd in the freaking UB books.
Yeah, in the casefiles (I haven't read too many originals lately) he's was pretty cool.
Well, according to Joe he was 'the dull, bussiness like one'.lol!
When Olivia mentioned the Hardy/Drew family, I think it would be cool to have Joe be Nancy's brother-in-law, and stuff. :D

This is going to sound so cheesy, but basically Nancy and Joe don?t have the same connection as Nancy and Frank. They aren?t really compatible or have the attraction.
And I don?t think readers/fans would be thick-headed. It would be the characters themselves who are too blind or thick-headed to see something because they are close to the situation. Readers are more objective: there is no reason for agendas.
If any of us thought Nancy/Joe would make a good couple, we would say so. Just like those who openly say they like the UBs.
