Post by: SDLagent on June 03, 2009, 01:46:45 AM
The title of the 20th volume in The Hardy Boys Graphic Novel series has been revealed on Bookmanager.com (http://bookmanager.com/tbm/?opt=kw&q=h.ts&tsf=y&qs=Hardy+Boys+%2320%3A+Deadly+Strategy). ''Deadly Strategy'' will be released in March 2010.

Intreging. Will Scott make the UBs a darker Casefiles~ish universe? Also note the price estimate is $11.50 wile he pages are suposedly still 96. This could mean any of afew things:
1. Inflation is driving price up.
2. Site got it wrong and the GNs are really still reg. price.
3. Site got page number wrong and GNs are getting longer.

The price is likely going up, but only to $8.99 for the paperback and $13.99 for the hardback.

Yeah, the title seems to be more in the style of the Casefiles titles (Dead On Target, Dead On Arrival, The Deadliest Dare, Deadfall).  It would be interesting to see Scott take the series in that direction.

We only get the GNs from the library, so if it comes out in march next year, we're probably going to be reading it in 2013. :(

That is pretty cool. I just don?t like how it has to have that ?new story? text at the top. If they cut it off, I think it would look cleaner. JMO.

They might in a few years when they get the book reprinted over 10 times.

It seems like Club Dread will be the last Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys book.

Actually, I looked on Wikipedia, and there's one more Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mystery. It has something to do with a gold medal.

That's Wikipedia.

Update: I was a little hasty in disregarding Wikipedia..."Gold Medal Murder" will be released in July 2010.

Yeah, it does...and right in my backyard at that (well, almost)! Funny they wouldn't release it before the games, though.

Or even during the games.  Plus if it takes place at the Winter Olympics, why release it in the summer?  I guess that's just S&S for you.

Well, maybe it's set at the 2012 games. I wouldn't put it past S&S!

Well I know that in 1992 when Simon & Schuster released Sabotage At Sports City, even though the Summer Olympics were in Barcelona, Spain and the Winter Olympics were in Albertville, France, Simon & Schuster placed the Olympics in, I believe, Atlanta (where the 1996 Olympics would be hosted) and then had a combination of events from Olympic in the 1970's and 1980's, as well as the 1990's.

I actually like the GNs better than the UBs. The plot is still about as thin as the copier paper in the room in which I'm typing this reply, but at least you get to see the action unfold and that adds a bit of appeal to the story. I also like that there is more friendly brother-brother interaction in the GNs than in the UBs (almost reminiscent of the good 'ole Casefiles and Digests.

I agree with just about everything that you say there, although I don't think the plots are that bad. Sure they're pretty straight forward, but I blame that on the page count not the stories themselves. The Graphic Novel series suffers from having so little pages - less than 100 pages.

Plus, each page is not filled up with words so it's even less than that, in a way.

The GNs are really good quality for its conciseness.
