Here's first chapter, then! :) I don't own anything. But I sure wish I did! ;)
Chapter 1
Joe
As we pulled in the drive I saw an ambulance coming toward us, stopped, put a box on the ground then took off.
Weird
Quickly Frank and I headed upstairs to check out the box and new mission CD.
?Ambulance Detectives, that should be interesting,? I said, as Frank grabbed two chairs, then we parked ourselves down in front of the computer screen.
?Here we go,? Frank said, inserting the disk into his CD drive.
A bust of sirens blared out of Frank?s speakers followed by an ambulance that stopped at a house. Then the imagine froze and prison bars slammed over the scene.
Then a picture of a red building with six garage doors on either side of a white door appeared. With the words, Flatline Volunteer Ambulance Service on a big sign above the main door.
?Hey! What kind of ambulance service calls themselves Flatline?? I exclaimed.
Frank shushed me as the narrator started to talk.
?As you know, EMTs do a lot of good for the people that they deal with. But sometimes EMTs are sloppy, go beyond their levels. Think they know-it-all." The narrator said.
So what?s deal? We knew that already.
?What?s the problem?? I complained to Frank.
It was as if the narrator had heard me.
?They call themselves Flatline,? the narrator continued as a photo appeared of twelve EMTs, ?The problem lies with the equipment that keeps disappearing from the rigs and the members on the service. Everyone is danger, mostly the victims who Flatline treats. Find out who is stealing the equipment, before anyone more people die.?You?ll find everything you need in the box. Good luck. You?ll need it. As always this CD will reformat.?
Five, four, three, two, one. . .
Music blared though Frank?s speakers.
I took the disk out of the computer and shut it down.
?How are we gonna pull this off?? I said, ?We?re already EMT-Paramedics so that?s good, but we can?t just walk in there like??
?Joe,? Frank stated, looking at the paper, ?We start at six am.?
?Great,? I muttered.
?We have to report to the service the night before at six pm for a four hour orientation,? Frank informed me.
I sighed, fingering my pager.
This had better be worth it.--
Sorry about the formatting! ;)

Thanks! :) But now I'm not so sure about what type of emergency calls I can have them go on with them being too graphic? :-\ PLEASE HELP! :-\ (Sorry, didn't mean to yell.)
Definitely- it reads very much like an Undercover Brothers book. As to what kind of calls The Hardys should go on- I guess it depends on how you want the story to progress. But not everything has to be a grisly murder scene or something- it could be something like someone having cardiac arrest or something like that.

Wasn't their first call in
Dead on Arrival to a murder scene, though? ???

Torchwood's one thing. But putting my Hardy Boys stories on there. . .I don't know about that. :-\ If I don't have a choice I'll have to. I'd rather not, though.
I'm just saying this isn't a fan fiction site. Short stuff like you already posted is fine, though.

Yes. I understand. So, I can't like a 1,000 words of a story on here?
Yeah, exactly.
Quote from: SDLagent on February 13, 2011, 07:57:17 PM
Yeah, exactly.
Then (as much I hate that site for any HB stories) I'll be posting the full version there.
ff.net isn't bad. There are some good stuff on there too. If you're worried about people's comments, then you can change the way people can comment. No anonymous people for instance. It would be too hard to read a whole story on this site though. Teasers could be fun though. Just to get interest in your story.
Great start. :)
Yeah- I like fanfiction.net pretty well- I've posted stuff there before too and haven't had any problems with it.

Maybe we can ask SkyWarp nicely and he will put a fanfiction site area on here? :D

Is that what it means? I thought it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan fiction focusing on Slash (http://tmnt.wikia.com/wiki/Slash). ;) ;D
seriously though, I remember when I first ran across this with MacGyver fan fiction and yes, I was also quite disgusted. I'm definitely not interested in any erotic fan fiction, homosexual or otherwise.

Well, if you're really interested- you can read it here (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1925192/1/bSpaceman_b_bSpiff_b).
I'll warn you though- it's not a Hardy Boys fan fiction. This is a little tribute to
Calvin & Hobbes that I wrote for fun and as an assignment for an English class in school a few years ago. I do actually have another fanfiction piece with The Hardy Boys in it- and I will be elated if I ever finish it. Whenever such time comes, I'll probably post the link here for anyone interested. Thanks for your interest though. :)

Yeah, slash is nasty. I'm not a big fan. ESP when it's with Frank and Joe. They are BROTHERS!!!!
Hardy Boys UB Fan, if you have questions about the HDA guidelines, feel free to PM me. They are wordy and thus can be a little overwhelming.
Some of us can use a little more tact in our responses. It's hard to read someone's tone online. Please be aware of that.

Mac,
I read your fic. I liked it! I reviewed on ff.net.
Hey hardygirl847- I saw that. Thanks for your nice review. Glad ya liked it. :)
You're welcome Mac. :) I hope this reply is sufficient. I don't feel like going on ff.net to reply. lol
perfectly fine. :)
Mac- :)
I'm just curious...do you all like fanfic that is close to the originals or ones that add a lot more depth into the plots, situations, storylines, relationships, etc?
Does that matter or does it have more to do with how well it is written??
Hmmm- okay. I like some fanfiction. To be fair, some fanfiction is not always all that great. Some (like slash fiction obviously) just does stupid and ludicrous things with the characters that are incredibly WAY out of line with the theme of the original source material. I definitely don't care for that kind of thing.
Most of the fanfiction I've read has been stuff based on TV shows I like or perhaps movies. Not too much on other categories. I usually like fanfiction particularly for short-lived shows or for ones that I've seen every episode a gazillion times over because it adds some new adventures to enjoy with the cast. And yes- I definitely like fanfic that is close to the original source material- that should be a given most every time. (Except for instances where someone is purposely trying to bend the characters for some particular reason- and there may be times to do that- but there are very few instances I can think of where I would care for it- except possibly for the purposes of humor- clean humor, that is.)
I certainly appreciate fanfic stories that add more depth into the plots, situations, storylines and relationships and such- that's always good. It is good if it's well written too of course- but I can overlook some writing issues in favor of an author's obvious enthusiasm for the source material and if they in fact do have a good storyline wrapped within there. (It's the thought that counts in this case.)
I don't know if that really answered your question or not. But when it comes to fanfiction with The Hardy Boys (though I have read a very few- but mainly ones that just were really interesting storylines to me)- I don't read much on this because I'm still reading plenty of the books within the official canon. And most times, I defer to the actual officially published books- though some fanfiction authors sometimes seem to have a better grasp on the characters than some of the officially published books. (I'm saying this in general here- not necessarily specifically to The Hardy Boys.) In this case, it's probably because ghostwriters may only be writing out of obligation to get a paycheck and not really have their heart in it- or not really care- and fanfiction writers are obviously writing it because they do care and they earnestly enjoy the characters and want to add to the fun in the storylines.
The other main thing I enjoy about fanfiction is that since it is all just for fun and obviously most likely won't and can't ever be officially published (what with the copyright infringement and breaches and all)- it's really fun to do crossover stories with favorite characters that might never meet otherwise. I do enjoy some of those. In fact, I have to credit fanfiction with introducing me to Quantum Leap. I first got interested by reading an Early Edition crossover with Quantum Leap story, which was quite well written. (And both shows definitely have a number of things in common.) And from there, I wound up watching every episode of QL- and yeah- it's an awesome show, as is EE. :)
So anyway, those scenarios are fun. And that's pretty much my feelings on fanfiction.
Aww Mac! You didn't have to write an essay! But you write so well...I'm glad you did. You expressed your opinion wonderfully. I generally like fanfics that stick close to the originals but if it's really written well...I find myself enjoying plot lines or certain additions that I would have thought I wouldn't like.
Crossovers can be cool but sometimes the author only knows one character or tv show cast more than the other. Then it becomes a bit one sided. I'm not really into QL or EE but that sounds cool!
Aw- well, thanks. I try, such as it is. :)
You do a great job of saying something concisely and clearly that I have to blather on for a while to say. ;D
