Figured we might as well give this book a topic. It's odd we don't have any info other than the title and cover art that I'm assuming is from the back of the last book. Amazon doesn't even have the book listed, and neither does S and S's website.

Oasis Audio is listing The Smuggler's Legacy CD as being released June 21, 2022.

I am starting to wonder about the future of the Hardy Boys books.  I sort of get "paranoid" each time we get close to no new solicitations though before the next one comes out.  But now, we don't have hardy any official word for either hardy boys series.  Just the one audio and two back covers for the next two books.

Usually we would see something in the catalogs if another book was suppose to come out:  https://catalog.simonandschuster.com/Catalogs/

And when you click on the links at Oasis they all click to not found pages.

But even the June 21 date I found curious as it's the same date as "Mayhem Express" has on sites, but in that case it was June 21, 2021, which was a Monday, but this year it's a Tuesday.

Unless the sales of the series have dropped so low that Adventures has been quietly cancelled.  Back in 2005, the Mystery Stories were cancelled because the books were only selling around 30,000 copies.

I remember when I was sure that Famous Mistake's delay was proof both the Diaries and Adventures were canceled. At this point, the Adventures is becoming "the little series that could", as despite all the halmalks of getting canceled (delays, less books releasing per year, the same plummet in amazon reviews that marked the end of the UBs), it's still going on.

But yeah, I do remember the solications for the other books coming way out earlier then this.

Edit:
As I've posted in the Tom Swift section, it looks like Inventor's Academy has bit the dust. There's no Oasis listing for any upcoming book. The most recent book doesn't even have an audiobook, and there's errors on the Oasis website relating to the series.

"Depth Perception" didn't even have a cover or title for the next book.  S&S just used the cover for "Drone Pursuit".

Well that pretty much confirms the series' cancellation then. Updated the Tom Swift topic with the new info, thanks!

Not quite.  I remember there was an Adventure book a few years ago where they put in place the cover for "The Secret of the Red Arrow" with the tagline "See where it all began", because they were having troubles pinning down a title and story.

Also, back in the G&D days, especially the 1929-1959 period there were times where there was no new title.  The 1928 version of Hunting For Hidden Gold did not contain a plug for The Shore Road Mystery until 1940, even though TSRM was released in 1928.

Back in the 80's, the Tom Swift book #5, "The Astral Fortress" didn't even contain a plug in the preceding book, instead #4 had a plug for #6.

I see, thanks for the correction! Fixed my blog post, and added a question mark back to the tom swift topic.

With the Wanderer Tom Swift "The Astral Fortress" was actually conceived as part of the plot for "The War In Outer Space", but then the authors found that it was too big to just be a couple of chapters, so they spun-off the plot into a new book, but someone didn't update the plug, and TWIOS contains a plug for "The Rescue Mission".

it's around 2 months until the book would be released, and still nothing. We normally get back cover summerys before then. I even checked the catlog again to see if there was an update. Nothing. That definatly doesn't mean the book has been cancelled, but it's not a good sign.

It's now less than a month until the release date, and still no news on the book. The Diaries book "Captain Stone's Revenge" is in the same situation. Things are not looking good for the adventures series.

Why don't they just redo Mystery of Smugglers Cove?

You don't want that!  They'd make book nearly the same length but with less content.

If they were going to do that, they should just re-release that title in its original form instead; like when S&S in the UK gave up on Undercover Brothers and republished Casefiles for a short while instead.
