Although SS might "okay" this title, they do not create them.  This is Papercutz that makes these.

I find the graphic novel titles are usually better then the UB titles, but I agree, this title is bad, right up there with ''Pushed'' and ''Hazed''.

The plot sounds kind of lame, but I'm really glad we'll see a story with Laura playing a big part! When's the last time that happened?

Well, then what would YOU have called 'pushed' and 'hazed' ?

I think the plot is quite good, there haven't been much Hardy Boy's books taking in a libary.

''Death by Train'', ''Murder in Times Square'', for ''Pushed''. The title of ''Hazed'' isn't as bad but I'm sure S&S could have thought up a better one! ...even something like ''Campus Conspiracy'' might work.

I it didn't talk me long! So I'm sure the ''pros'' at S&S could have came up with better names!

Please Papercutz, change the name of Shhhhh! before it comes out! For one thing it's lame, and for another, how am I supposed to remember how many 'Hs' there is?

But the series also has trouble with to many similar sounding titles.  For example, #5 "Rocky Road" is exteremely similar to Digest #151 "The Rocky Road To Revenge".

Even worse then that, is the fact that UB #10 Blown Away has the same title as Casefiles #108! You can't reuse titles! ::)

Digest #187 was called No Way Out, same as Casefiles #75, and Digest #179 was titled Passport To Danger, a title that was originally used in the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys SuperMystery'88 series.

ORR, They are members of a secret anime society dedicated to the preservation of ancient documents. Joe took out one of these rare books and lost it. The Hardys are taken to a secret underground lab when they escape using Frank's pocket protector/F-16. They realize that the secret society is part of Ward and then decide to read books.

That's kind of weird how my post got here. Anyways, I was referring to Papercutz actually putting effort into their work, including featuring a catalog.

Robin - my guess is that it's just catalog pages online featuring published works already out, and future stuff. Just info and prices, I suppose.

On his blog (http://papercutz.com/blog/2009/02/20/hello-from-scott-lobdell/), Scott Lobdell told me this about ''Shhhhhh!'':

QuoteShhhhh! features another recurring character we only see in the Graphic Novel...

On his blog profile (http://papercutz.com/blog/author/paulo-henrique/), Paulo Henrique says this:

QuoteIn his spare time, Henrique is also a musician in Brazil with his band Octane. Check out the Hardy Boys #17: Word Up! in June of 2009 and see if you can pick out a cameo appearance of Paulo and his band!

Only minor spoilers...

QUESTION: WHAT'S THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE IN THE WORLD?

THE LIBRARY! (NO KIDDING!)

Believe it or not, Frank and Joe Hardy become embroiled in battle in the most unlikely place of all - and the fate of the free world hangs in the balance! Plus two surprise cameo appearances!

Review: ''Shhhhhh!'' is an enjoyable read but was a bit of a disappointment. For one thing, contrary to what Amazon.com plot blurb might have you believe, Laura doesn't really play a big role. She appears in more pages then she ever has, yes, but her part in the story is more of a interesting subplot. I was hoping for a bit more.

Overall this one has a different feel to the other graphics. As Jim Salicrup puts it, "this very special edition of THE HARDY BOYS dedicated to librarians everywhere."

I liked Aunt Trudy in this one, though. She seems more like the Gertrude of old.

Didn't live up to it's potential, but still a fun read.

Rating: 3/5

I have. Its a good story, not some "Oh my gosh you have to read this" book like 7 or 15 or something but pretty good. I did like the Trudy scene and getting to know the parents a little more. Over all 4/5. Can't wait for word up.

Good catch!  Robin's spines of the first 4 look like later printings, since the spines have in the black area "The Hardy Boys Graphic Novel", while on my books the first 3 books just say "The Hardy Boys", and the Graphic Novel is in black on top of the blue just above the # of the book.  #4 has "Graphic Novel" in black on the yellow.

Also, the first 4 spines of my books have the picture of Joe from Ocean Of Osyria on the spine.

Also, I just noticed that #11 was drawn by Tim Smith 3, and not Paulo Henrique.

I am guessing that perhaps the first few are not original printings, but maybe second run or they came in a box of them together later on?

Mine are like Robin's and I got the them in a box set (#5 was the first I got new). Also, they have "back pages" in the back, which the first books didn't originally have.

I've always thought it's strange that #4 and #5 both have Frank on the side, while all the others alternate.

I guess they were trying to go Joe, Frank when they realized that Frank was already on #5.  Or maybe they were planning on doing 4 books straight with Frank on the side.

You guys gessed it the first 4 are from a box. I came in to the seris when 6 or 7 came out and startad buying them in a random way based on what I found where I was. I bought 2 of the old 1-4s (I have them some where) but when I found the 1-4 box set on Amazon for a good deal I just bought that, and I was happy because my spines matched now. However Frank does repeat on 4 &5's spines. ???

I justed read Shhhh tonight.  And to be quite frank...I'm still looking for the mystery story.  And I've gone through the whole book.  This is definitely not one of Scott Lobdell's better books.  Infact, I think this has to be the second worst Graphic novel, after To Die Or Not To Die.

Rating: 1.5 out of 10.

Keep in mind, though, a few of the Graphic Novels are NOT mysteries (Live Free, Die Hardy! for example).

To Die or Not to Die was by far not the worst althought I'm not sure what the worst is.

I think the worst was Malled.

For once we agree, JHR (I may have already mentioned my dislike for ''Malled'' in this thread).

Malled probably is the worst although I don't really like To Die or Not to Die.

This is my comment from before in the GNs section:

I didn't like it much either, and could see where it was going. That girl was also extremely annoying.

I understand what the rest of you are saying, but for what it is, I really enjoyed it. Since it?s been a while, I?ll just give a quick spoiler warning.

SPOILERS AHEAD?

I like the normal stuff near the beginning i.e. the garage sale & showing more of their family, plus Lindsay. I think it?s cool that they happened to go to the same city as Laura and had to ?duck? her. I also like the humour throughout, and how they had to deal with the kids. The whole ambulance thing at the end was good, too (but of course we saw something like that coming ? it seemed too short/easy). And the ending with the boy wanting to be like them, and one of the twin girls going to write a story about them ? I just liked those references lol.

I also really enjoyed the whole ?library? aspect. It may sound corny, but I love the library: it?s one of my favourite places. I wouldn't mind going to Washington, D.C. or another major library.

I liked Frank and Joe's interaction with the kids, too. Highlight of the book for me.
