Title: QUOTES
Post by: Kerin on July 05, 2007, 10:09:39 PM
I thought it would be a neat idea to have someplace to put funny quotes or pieces from the books.

"Dont worry frank said as he steered the van back onto the road,I've got a plan.I hate it when you say that Joe muttered.Frank smiled trust me.That's what you always say don't worry I've got a plan. Then you have me do something stupid like impersonate a  sewer inspector,Joe said."

Anybody got some more ???

"Look," Joe said. "This isn?t a detective novel. Things could get really dangerous from here on out."

We?re a little young to consider retiring," Joe said with a grin.

"I know," Frank said, "but sometimes I feel like we?ve been chasing criminals for seventy-five years or so."

"I guess that rules out bursting into his room and grilling him relentlessly for hours," Joe remarked.

Frank shot a look at his brother. "You've been reading too many cheap detective novels."

"They don't come much cheaper than us," Joe replied.

Quote? You know, big brother,? he said, ?You did something earlier that surprised me.?

?What was that?? Frank asked.

?When I flew off the handle back at the police station and tried to clobber Jellicoe,? Joe said, ?you didn?t try to stop me, as you usually do. You didn?t tell me that I had to play by the rules.?

?Rules?? said Frank, his eyes taking on an intensity Joe had never seen before, an intensity that sent chills down Joe?s spine. ?What rules? These guys killed our father.
This time there are no rules.?

-No Mercy (https://www.hardyboyscasefiles.com/series/casefiles.php?book_no=65)

And

Quote??You?re kidding, right??? Frank dropped his duffel bag to the pavement.

??Nope,?? Joe said, putting on his, sunglasses and unlocking the driver?s door. ??One fire engine red Porsche 911 Turbo. The fastest production car in the world.  Especially with me behind the wheel.??

??Where do we put our bags??? Callie asked

??With four hundred horses behind us, who cares???
And

Quote??Someone grabbed Callie!?? Frank shouted. ??She?s in that van!??

??I?m right on them, Frank.?? Joe swung the white van into traffic and hit the accelerator. They lost sight the other van as it rounded a corner.

??Don?t lose them!?? Frank yelled. He had both fists clenched and was pounding on the dash. ??I can?t believe I let her do this.??

"What's your name?" Joe asked. "Denise," She replied. "And which brother are you,
Frank or Joe?" "I'm Joe," Joe said. "The handsome, charming one." "Where are we going?"
Asked Frank. "And that's Frank," Joe added. "The dull, businesslike one." -- Evil, Inc.

"This is totally crazy." "Come on, don't try to kid me," Said Joe. "I knew you couldn't resist a caper like this. I could see the eager gleam in your eyes as soon as the Gray Man told us about the Reynerd gang." "I didn't want to wind up being an only child, that's all," Said Frank.
"No way am I going to get stuck with all of the chores around the house. And no way you could you pull off this Masquerade by yourself. It damands a cool head, not a hothead. I can just see you taking a punch at this Reynerd guy if he so much as mentions a terrorist bomb."

"Now, what's all this about a girl?" Callie wated to know. "Oh, it was terrible, Callie," Joe said.
"We both tried to romance this girl to find out where the secret headquarters was. And I-" He hung his head. "I struck out. She wanted a nothing to do with me. She wanted a dashing man of action-like Frank here." "Oh yeah?" Callie's hands were on her hips. "It's not the way it sounds," Frank said, begining to explain. "Realy?" Said Callie. "I told you," Joe said with a grin. "You should have stuck with Pia and quit while you were ahead." He quickly retreated as Callie glared at him. Frank and Callie stood staring at each other in the now-empty plane.
"You know," Callie finally said, "somtimes you can be a real jerk." "There was nothing going on with Pia," Frank said. "She wound up trying to shoot me--twice." "I know that," Callie said.
"I was wondering how long it would take before you kissed me." -- Hostages of hate

This one's just a corny quote from The house on the cliff :D

"How much longer do we should stay out here?" Chet asked. "I'm getting hungry." "I have a few pretzels and a candy bar, but that's not much for four of us," Joe remarked. "Aha!" crowed
Tony. "I have a surprise for you! I stowed away a little food before we took off." With that he pulled a paper bag from the locker and passed each boy a large sandwich, a piece chocolate cake, and a bottle of lemon soda. "You deserve a medal," Chet remarked as he bit into a layer of ham and cheese. "You sure do." Frank agreed.

I'm glad you like them.Heres another.

The police cheif let out a sigh to vent some of his frustrasion.Thats not the point.I know you boys mean well, but I can't condone your junior detective antics. One of these days your going to get seriously hurt.He stopped and took a closer look at Joe.What happedned to your head?Joe put his hand up to cover the dark bruise on his forehead.A compleatly unrelated accident,Frank asserted. He's been training for luge.Nobody told him you need a special kind of sled and a crash helmet.Or that oyur supposed to go down the hill feet first,Vanessa chipped in,grinning michievously. The police cheif through his hands up in disgust.I give up!I'm going to get an officer to take your statements. After that I want you out of my sight. Are we clear on that?Crystal clear,Joe assured him.Just one question,Frank said.Cheif collig glared at him. What?Do you still think the fire at Andrea'sstudio was an accident? The police cheif put his hands on hips.I'm not getting through to you am I?I know what you're thinking, and you can forrget it.The investigation didn't turn up anything definite. The lighter with the initials S.G. is the only solid clue we have and even if we could link it to the fire which we can't,it still reads like an accident. And futhermore,he continued forcefully, even if the fire wasn't anaccident and there's some connectionbetween the fire and this explosion, the police department will handle it not the police and there pals Frank and Joe Hardy.Got it?Does that mean we're not pals anymore?Joe asked inoccently.Cheif Colligs eye flicked between the two brothers.Great,he said. Why can't you guys do what other kids do?Don't you play football or baseball or anything like that? It's the middle of winter,Joe said.Hockey or basketball would be more like it.Don't forget the luge,Vanessa reminded him.Joe rubbed his throbbing head. How could I?The police cheif started to say something, then changed his mind, spun around, and stomped off.I don't think he was happy to see us,Joe observed.-Mayhem in motion.

Whew that was a lot to type. :) But that is one of the best quotes of the book. ;)

This quote is from Digest #150 The Crisscross Crime and is one of my favorites, here it is:

QuoteFrank glanced at the floor of the car. There, he saw a crumpled box and a circle of golden brown crust.

??Oh, don?t tell me??? Joe moaned from the backseat.

??Yup,?? Biff said. ??I brought you guys a hot pizza, but looks like it took a header in the crash.??

Frank gingerly lifted the pie and flipped it back into the box. The floor was covered with a wet, gooey mix of cheese and sauce.??

??Sorry,?? Biff said.

??Don?t worry,?? Joe said, motioning for Frank to hand him the box. ??I?m not letting this thing go to waste.??

Biff and Frank grimaced in disgust as Joe scooped up some loose cheese and pepperoni and glopped them on a soggy chunk of crust. He slurped in a stray strand of mozzarella.

??Mmm. Still hot,?? he said.

You let my follow you around and take notes on your next investigation. And when it's finished, I'll write it into the form of an adventure story. The Money Hunt is #101 in the Digest series, the same series as Night of the Werewolf (NOTW is #59 in the Digest series, or the very first Digest).  Unfortunately,  both books have been out of print for about 10 years now in their paperback forms.  But Night of the Werewolf was reissued in 2005 by Grosset & Dunlap as part of the classic hardcover series.

Here are some more qoutes...

"Hi, Frank," He*(Joe)*called. "Any problem?"
Frank shook his head. "Nothing we can't handle," He said.
"Get that crate out of my way, or I'll move it for you!" Gus*(French)*yelled.
Frank looked over at Joe and said. "Not very original. I heard better back in fourth grade. Didn't you?"
Joe studied Gus's reddening face for a moment. "Uh-huh," He said. "In a minute he'll probably start calling us names. Then when that doesn't work, he'll probably stamp his foot down and tell us we'll be sorry."
"Okay, that's it!" Gus sputtered. "This time you are going to be sorry!"
Frank gave a satisfied nod. "You called it Joe." He said. "Come on, let's go, before we fall asleep from boredom." --The Mark Of The Blue Tattoo

This is from a 'Frank chapter' in Hurricane Joe.
I ran inside to use the bathroom while Joe grabbed a hacksaw from the garage. Then we headed to my room, tossed our backpacks on the bed and getting down to business.
"I'll check the news." I pulled the emergency radio out of my backpack and gave it a few cranks.
"I'll catch a few Z's." Joe said.
By Z's he meant sawing at his handcuff.
"Hey! Don't do that here. You'll mess up my bedspread."
He stopped and rolled his eyes. Moveing to the window he plopped down on the sill and started sawing again.
"Thank you, Joe."
"You're welcome, Martha Stewert."

"Hey! Don't do that here. You'll mes up my bedspread."
He stopped and rolled his eyes. Moveing to the window he plopped bown on the sill and started sawing again.
"Thank you, Joe."
"You're welcome, Martha Stewert."

This is another qoute from a 'Frank Chapter' from Hurriane Joe.

The next morning I was woken up by something really annoying. No, not Playback. It was my cell phone, ringing so loudly that I bolted out of bed and flipped on my phone.
"Hello?"
"Are you awake?"
"Now I am. Who is this?"
"It's Chet."
"What do you want, Chet?" I asked groggily.
"I'm heading down to the police station to tell them about finding my Zbox at Velma's Pawn shop. I just wondered if you and Joe wanted to come along."
I couldn't tell Chet that my brother and I were already working on the case. So I said, "Sure. We'll join you. Where? When?"
"I'm standing in your yard right now."
I walked to the window and peeked outside.
Chet stood below me, staring up and waving wildly.
"Sometimes you scare me, Chet."

Ha, ha.  I've done that to some people.  I'll call them on my cell phone for something and ask them if they'd like to meet me, and then I'll mention that I'm standing right at their front door, or somewhere around their property.

I was just reading Tom Swift and his House On Wheels (1929), and here is a funny passage from pg. 27.

'"Putting the kitchen in the rear insures the odors being carried away as the machine moves along," explained Tom.

"Then you're going to cook as you travel?" asked Ned.

"Sure!" assented Tom.

"That is you are---or someone else," chuckled Ned.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that my suspicions are confirmed," went on Ned, with a laugh, and taking care to get beyond Tom's reach before making his next remark.  He added:  "I know where the first stop will be for this traveling House on Wheels!"

"Where?" asked Tom, unsuspiciously.

"Honeymoon Lane!" yelled Ned, making a leap to escape his chum.'

when Chet is in the pool trying snorkeling:

"Their stout friend was in the water...'ahoy!'called Jo....Chet continued moving about like a walrus, but finally emerged and removed his mask and flippers. 'Hi fellows! I'm having a hard time learning this. Can't get down deep enough.' 'What's the trouble?' Jo asked. ' The extra fat you carry around make you to bouyant?' 'Now listen here' Chet said. 'Just because I know good food when I see it...'"

haha i loved how they had to remind u chet was fat like every single time he was mentioned in the old series :P

Devoika, was your quote from the original text of Pirate's Hill or was it from the revised text?

As for Tom Swift, he was created by Edward Stratemeyer, the same person who created the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew.  But Tom Swift (1910) was created 17 years before the Hardy Boys first appeared in 1927.

The first Tom Swift series, nowadays known as the Tom Swift Sr. Adventures, ran from 1910 to 1941.  The series was printed in hardcover Dustjacket covered cloth books by Grosset & Dunlap, except for the last two volumes, #39 and #40 were printed by Whitman books as part of their "Better Little Books" line.  Whitman also reprinted volumes 29-38 after Grosset & Dunlap sold the rights to the series to them.

The original Tom Swift returned once again, but as a secondary charcter, in the new series called the New Tom Swift Jr. Adventures that ran from 1954 to 1971, where it was revealed that after Tom Swift and Mary Nestor had married in Tom Swift And His House On Wheels, that they had had a son, who was now 18 and was also called Tom Swift, and a daughter named Sandra Swift.  This series had 33 volumes, all printed by Grosset & Dunlap, although in 1972, volumes 14-17 were reprinted by Tempo books, a subsidiary of Grosset & Dunlap, in paperback as volumes 1-4 in a new series that went nowhere.  Then in 1978 Tempo books reissued volumes 1-4, 6 and 8 in another paperback series and numbered them 1-6, but stopped after low sales.

1981 saw the launch of the third Tom Swift series, although this series was very loosely connected to the previous two.  The series only ran for 11 volumes and was cancelled in 1984 with a 12th and 13th volume already written (#12 and #13 are available from the New York public library in Manuscript form).  This series was published by Wanderer books

1991 saw the launch of yet another Tom Swift series.  Published by Archway Paperbacks, the series only lasted till 1993 with 13 volumes.

In 1992, Tom Swift joined forces with the Hardy Boys in the series "A Hardy Boys and Tom Swift Ultra Thriller".  So far it is the only series where Tom Swift has been paired with one of his "sibling" series.  Unfortunately the series only lasted for 2 volumes.  Both "Time Bomb" and "The Alien Factor" are highly sought after books by Hardy Boys, Tom Swift and science fiction enthusiasts.  The series ended in 1993 with each book only being printed once.  The Hardy Boys in this series are the Hardy Boys from the Casefiles universe, and the Tom Swift is the Tom Swift from the Archway series.

13 years after "The Alien Factor" was printed, Tom Swift Young Inventor showed up on store shelves in June of 2006.  However, this would prove to be the shortest Tom Swift series to date, with only 6 volumes being published before the series was discontinued in October 2007.  The series was written in the first person style, similar to the HardyBoys Undercover Brothers.  There was a seventh volume prepared, 'Extraterrestial Highway', but it is unknown whether it will be published, or if it will join the two Tom Swift books from the 1980's series in unpublished manuscript history.

wow u know alot! thanks! ive heard of tom swift before but never really knew much bout it since as a kid all i read was hardy boys, and nothing else from the Company that created hardy boys. as for the quote, it is from the original pirates hill since i had no idea that there had been a revised version. is it still the same story line or did they change it dramatically somehow?
Title: Re: QUOTES
Post by: tomswift2002 on March 24, 2008, 04:27:37 PM
Basically, with the revised versions you can break them down into two categories

Altered - the books were shortened and the plot stayed unchanged.  A few of the books had a couple of characters dropped or added and the plot was changed in a few places, but otherwise, it was the same story.  ie. The Secret Of Pirate's Hill, While The Clock Ticked

Completely Changed - These books have absolutely no connection to the original story.  The plot is completely different.  ie. Footprint's Under The Window, The Melted Coins

You might want to check out Bob Finnan's webpage on the original series (http://hardyboys.bobfinnan.com/hbos.htm (http://hardyboys.bobfinnan.com/hbos.htm)).  He lists just how different each revised book is, and the different volumes that were revised.  But, I'll just let you know, I disagree with him on The Melted Coins.  In my opinion, the revised text has one of the worst thought out plots ever in a Hardy Boys story.  Stealing coins to melt into a fake Native American mask?  The original version had the thieve's stealing the coins to make counterfeit currency.  Infact, I praise Collins and Armada for printing only the original story in Britain.  Obviously someone over there at Collins thought that the revised text was stupid as well.

Easy.  On the copyright page, in pre-1987 editions, it will say 'Copyright 1970 by Grosset & Dunlap'.  In the flashlight editons it will say, 'Copyright 1944, 1970 by Simon & Schuster, Inc.'   Plus, the revised version has only been issued using the cover with the stupid mask and Joe holding coins in his hands.

damn it, thats the copy i have! the mask and jo holding the coins! oh well ::) are Grosset & Dunlap the company that revised the book? i have another quote, to get us back on topic:

Hardy Boys # 167 TroubleTimes Two

pg. 58: "'What if he had a family connection?' Frank argued. Joe grinned 'Or maybe the gang is an equal opportunity employer'"

pg. 49: after Jo follows Mr. Gilliam around in the van full of his friends to put off seeing the romance flick that Callie wanted to see: "'Well I guess that's all settled.' Then he turned to Frank. 'So how are we doing on time? Can we still make that heart-flopper romance Callie wants to see?' Frank checked his watch. 'It started 5 minutes ago' he announced. A broad smile crept onto Joe's lips. 'So I guess we'll just have to see the boom-boom flick I suggested.' he said smugly. Frank shook his head. 'Actually, that started half an hour ago.' He grinned. 'But we could still make that foreign film Phil was talking about.' ....The rest of the kids exchanged amused glances over the way Jo's clever plan had blown up in his face."

pg. 56 "When Frank went down to breakfast the next morning, Jo was already there. 'Some brother you are,' he accused. 'First you side with Callie instead of me on the film question. Then you go along with Phil and make me look like an idiot.' 'That didn't take much work' Frank replied.

Post by: tomswift2002 on March 26, 2008, 03:17:16 PM
From 1927 to 1983, the Hardy Boys books were written by ghost writers for a book packager called "The Stratemeyer Syndicate".  Even though the copyright pages for the books printed by Grosset & Dunlap, prior to 1979, bear the wording "Copyright 19## by Grosset & Dunlap", the copyrights were actually held by the Stratemeyer Syndicate, and the books were updated by them as well.  Copies of the stories that were printed by Grosset & Dunlap after 1980 in the blue spine with the boys portrait on the side would have the previous copyright info, but they would then add "Copyright assigned to the Stratemeyer Syndicate in 1980", and then in 1987, with the few books that were printed using the old format Grosset & Dunlap started to add "1987 Printing".

Peters whined. 'I did They must have broken out'

"And on and on," added Joe. "What's more, there's a whole platoon up there ready to take his place. That guy Graham looks like he's got a nice, long, dull seech to lay on us." - pg 2-3

( about getting shot at)
"Looks like he is crazy after all." said Joe. "How do we handle this?"
"How about one of us distracts him while the other one jumps him?" suggested Frank.
"Great idea!" Joe snapped. "Let's see he's got an Uzi or something and we have zip.How do we distract him, with funny storues?"
"The building alongside this one is a story higer," Frank said. "You stay here.Give me exactly one minute and then slam that door open with alot of noise.I'll come at him from behind, off that taller roof."
Joe replied, "You have to run  down four  flights of steps  here, and then up five flights next door.Let's make it ninety seconds. You're not as young as you used to be."
"And you're not as funny as you think you are," responded Frank. --pg 99

Here's one from The Hardy Boys Handbook from the story Desperation In The Desert, so its a "rare" quote:

(pg. 78 Wanderer Edition)

'Joe sucked the distilled water through his taut, hurting lips and into his parched throat.

"How does it taste?" Frank asked.

"Wonderful!" Joe sighed.  "No---terrible, but wonderful, too."  He took another sip, then handed the hubcap to Frank, who was laughing.

"That's a great description!" he said as he bent to take a drink.  He held the water in his mouth a moment to taste it thoroughly.  "My apologies, Joe," he amended, "your description was perfect.  It's wet, and that's wonderful, but it'll never replace a cold mountain spring!"'

Just reading that passage I think the author was being influenced in how Frank and Joe banter by the way the Hardy's bantered in the 1977 TV series with Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy.

Chief Collig speaking with witnesses to a crime:

?He had short, dark hair!? said Harrity doggedly.
?And I'm sure he had long red hair!" shouted Henry J. Brown, very indignantly.
?Do you think I'm blind? Do you think I'd tell a lie about it??
?He had dark hair.?
?It was red.?
?It was dark.?
?It wasn't.?
?It was!?
?Stop it!? commanded Chief Collig. ?I don't think either of you know what kind of hair he had. Probably he was bald-headed.?

These are some of the ones I posted before in this topic. :)

QuoteThis is from a 'Frank chapter' in Hurricane Joe.

QuoteThis is another qoute from a 'Frank Chapter' from Hurriane Joe.

Yeah, his site is good for history, but like you say, this site's more up-to-date.

Could you post a link to the quote?

"Well, let's get on to the assignments," Hewitt said, forgetting about the photograph and looking down at a list on his desk. "Frank, I want you working with me in the Games security. Joe, I'm putting you on the Norwegians' track and field team. Sort of a glorified go-fer."

"Go-fer?" Bess asked.

"Yeah, you know, you 'go fer' this and 'go fer' that," Joe explained.

"This is great - Frank's in a suit and gets respect. I'm in sweatpants lugging around barbells," Joe groused.

"Frank grinned at him. "A perfect division of labor."

This is a hilarious quote from the original Great Airport Mystery. "The roadster was traveling at sixty miles an hour. Frank did not dare raise his eyes from the road ... Frank could barely keep the car on the road. He quickly glanced at the speedometer. The car was traveling at seventy miles an hour." HAHA!! :D :D

Well that is pretty fast considering it's still over the speed limit in a lot of places. And this is that was the '30s.

60-70 miles an hour, that's about 110-120 Kilometers per hour, right?
Title: Re: QUOTES

That's 100-110 I think. Could be wrong, though.

this is from Casefiles #13 "The Borgia Dagger" when Tessa ran out of the house when Joe is supposed to be gaurding her and he is trying to explain to Frank what happened while Tessa's bf Harley fumes in the background ;D:

" 'You lost her!' Frank said. 'Well, it's a little more complicated than that' Joe said. 'You know, a guy tries to be on his best behavior, tries to be the ideal body gaurd, right? He keeps quiet, does his job, and then decides to make conversation-asks a dumb, innocent, friendly question-'
Frank crossed his arms. 'What did you ask her Joe?'
'Well, I was reading Personality magazine and I got to thinking about the actors in the movies- you know, the ones who have to do those kisses in close-up? Well I realized those people probably don't even know eachother-'
'I don't believe this,' Frank said rolling his eyes. 'get to the point Joe!'
Joe lowered his head. 'All I did was ask how she would feel kissing a perfect stranger-'
'What?' Harley bellowed. Joe protested, 'She didn't even give me a chance to-'
'Cool it you guys' Frank said. 'Go on Joe, what did she do after this 'innocent, friendly' question?' 'Well, she gave me a look, ran outside, and drove away.'"

this was the best part in the whole book ;D

I changed the bad guys? names so it doesn?t spoil anyone.

This is from Casefile #17: The Number File.

QuoteThe Hardys used a sheet torn into strips to tie their prisoner?s hands behind his back, and when Smith regained consciousness, they began questioning him.

?How many more of you are there?? Frank asked the stocky man.

?There?s just me. My mother didn?t want no more children,? he answered.

?I can see why,? Joe told him. ?But I want to know about your gang. Are there are more of you on the ship besides you and Jones??

?Will I get a shorter sentence if I tell you??

?Yeah,? Joe said sarcastically. ?We promise we won?t use sentences with more than six words.?

This is from Web Of Horror, page 27:

"Oh, yeah?" Paula sounded unconvinced.  "So your being in the film has nothing to do with Andrew Warmouth's murder?"

"No," Joe said.  "Katz just needed some extra bodies.  Besides, we leave murder investigations to the police."

ok i got some

from Club Dread:
from Joes point of view
"I woke up from the strangest dream. In it , I was a little kid, and my dad was carrying me to bed. But my bed was one of those carts you use to move food in a restauran, and my dad was Matthias Dunstock. Nightmare!"

"Okay!" I said. "I'll tell you everything. Just stop! Your breath is killing me."

from Franks point of view
"I think the ball is laughing at us," Nancy said.
"It's just intimidated by my natural athletic ability," Joe said, winking at Bess.
George came up behind him and easily dunked him underwater.
"Your natural what?" she said.

Joe: "Slaves. We're slaves in our own house!"
Frank: "Joe?"
Joe: "What?"
Frank: "Shut up."

-and-

Frank: "I guess Joe is right."
Joe: "A first! Frank Hardy admits Joe is correct!"

QuoteUp above, the cellar door suddenly slammed open. Joe jumped and lost his precarious hold on the file. It tinkled as it hit the floor, but the noise was lost as Fellawi skipped down the stairs.

"I forgot to turn off the soldering iron," he said, shaking his head. "Very bad habit. Dangerous."

He unplugged the tool, brought it back into the private office, then started up the stairs again.

"I don't believe this guy," Frank said. "He sets things up to fry us with an atom bomb, then worries about the dangers of electrical fires. Unbelievable!"

Here's one from Double Deception:
Emily: "It will take all my best acting skills to act like I'm in love with Justin."
"You'll do great," I said. "You always do."
I watched her walk away. Frank punched my arm. "What?" I asked.
"So out of your league," he teased.
"Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?"
(Ha ha, Joe)

I found a website dedicated to Hardy Boys quotes...http://hardyquotes.webs.com/

This one cracked me up and now I have to find the book!

Daredevils  page 44-45  Hardy Boys Digest #159  ????

"You sure you're okay, Joe?" Frank asked as he reached out to steady his brother.

"Little wobbly, that's all," Joe replied.

"We'll order up a skull X ray, just to be safe," Mr. Hardy said, concerned.

"Well, we know that'll turn up empty."  Frank laughed.  He used his uninjured arm to help his brother into the back of the van.

"Ha, ha. Very funny," Joe mocked.

Frank climbed into the van and sat down next to his brother.  "Now we'll have proof that I got all the brains in the family."

Terrace climbed in behind Frank and Joe, being careful not to bump his injured shoulder.

"You two and all this brotherly love," Terrace said with a fake sniffle.  "It's enough to make me cry."

The three young men broke out in laughter.

"I'm telling you, Doc," Frank said as Joe was led away, "you're not going to find anything!"

On the website I listed above there is this quote but I cannot find a Digest #118 or a book by this title. Help!  :-\

Danger In The 4th Dimension  page ??  Hardy Boys Digest #118  1993

"I don't know," Joe said.  He sat up and began to pull on his black canvas boots.  "But right now I want to forget about untangling all those suspects and continue searching for Dad."

Frank shook his head.  "No way, Joe.  You're supposed to be resting, remember?"

"I'm rested," Joe said impatiently.  "I feel fine now.  So let's pick one of the buildings Dad circled on the map and get over there, okay?"  He pulled the map out of his pocket and studied it intently.  "How about the Hall of Holograms?"

"Okay," Frank said reluctantly as he stood up from the bed.  "But if you start feeling dizzy, we're coming right back here.  Agreed?"

Joe glared at him.  "I really hate it when you play big brother, you know that?"

"Hey," Frank said with a grin as they left the room, "it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it."

"Oh, give me a break," Joe muttered, rolling his eyes.

I've only read Danger In The Fourth Dimension once---and that was over 12 years ago (the library got rid of the book a short time later and I haven't been able to find a copy since).  It was an interesting read from what I remember, although, it wasn't as good as Rock 'N' Roll Renegades or The Case Of The Cosmic Kidnapping

Here's the page on the book from the Hardy Boys Wikia.  Unfortunately it seems as though not a lot of people have read the book either since there is only a small amount of information on the page. http://hardyboys.wikia.com/wiki/Danger_in_the_Fourth_Dimension

I've got "Danger in the Fourth Dimension", but it's been a really long time since I had read it. From what I remember of it though, I enjoyed it. The science fiction theme park described in the book sounded really cool- although there isn't anything like that that I know of in SC or anywhere else in the USA. Maybe they were thinking along the lines of Universal Studios theme parks?

Possible.  Or maybe they were thinking of sort of a mixture between Disneyland, Universal and the Star Trek elements found in the Paramount Parks at the time.
