Title: Perfect Crime
Post by: SDLagent on March 14, 2009, 04:38:54 AM
I can't find this listed anywhere else on the net, so it may not be true...but by the looks of it, the next Hardy Boys game by DreamCatcher, is called The Hardy Boys: The Perfect Crime (http://www.nulime.com/Hardy-Boys-Perfect-Crime/p372111).

Sounds right. Hummm... Could this be a remake of HB#2?

I hope it is based on ''The House on the Cliff''.

Somehow I get the feeling that it might be based on one of the Digests...like The Prime-Time Crime.

Could be, but that would be kinda like that Nancy Drew Game, the one with the soap opera.

Well, Dreamcatcher is not using the same marketing company this time, so I am out of the look at the moment as far as trying to gather information.  But not giving up.

Has anyone tried sending Dreamcatcher a direct email asking if the info is correct?

Done and game is confirmed.  But no other information YET.  Working on that too.  Amazon now lists the game but with a DRASTICALLY different release date:

http://www.amazon.com/Hardy-Boys-Perfect-Crime-Pc/dp/B001V9Y550/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1237242155&sr=8-2

Yeah, that is drastically different.  May 24, 2009 compared to December 9, 2009.  If it was only out by 7 days, then you could maybe say that it was a typo on an information sheet, but for a 6 month difference...

I'm more inclined to believe the December date, because (a) we're pretty close to May 24, for DreamCatcher to not have released any new, and (b) a May release would mean less then a year between games.

I have more information.   May is indeed the correct month at the present time.  You'll see more details on the main page soon.

I am told this game is more of a casual seek and find game so gameplay will be different than that of 'The Hidden Theft'.

Yeah, the ND game with the soap opera is one that I?m in the middle of. I have a pattern (it?s not on purpose ? it just happens):

I play 25% of the game and get stuck or just forget about it for a few months and then play another 50% until I fess up and finish it.

Has anyone picked up a copy of the game yet?  I can't seem to find it in Canadian stores or on Canadian websites yet, and none of the American retailers can ship it to Canada due to legal and copyright issues.

Somebody reviewed it on Amazon if your wanting to know about it.

Okay, my copy finally arrived from Amazon (although I am not sure that amazon even had it as they were out of stock as soon as mine shipped on the "release date" which changed several times.

I'll give a review eventually, but as of right now, I will say, that those that have played any previous ND or HB games should not expect it to be like those at all.

And that is all I will say for now.   :-X

I've finished the game.  I think so anyway.  I hope to get a review up sometime soon.

Anyone else finish the game yet (or even purchased it)?

I can't seem to find it here in Eastern Ontario or even on the internet (although I can find the French language version of the game, but since I don't speak or read French that well I want the English language version).

If you don't have it yet, don't get it. (wait for it to be on sale, if you absolutely need to get it).

I just received my copy from Amazon.ca today.  It's interesting that Dreamcatcher hasn't labelled the discs as #1 and #2, just like they've done with the Nancy Drew games.

I just played a little bit of it and boy is it very plain and dull when compared to The Hidden Theft or even Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon or Creature Of Kapu Cave

What were none of the previous voice artists available for this game?  Plus why did they decide to go with a retro look for the Hardy's?  I mean the faces for the boys look like they were taken right from the Disney Tower Treasure serial from the 1950's, that was released on DVD back in 2006, colorized and then pasted into the game?

Plus, as I've been reading the text (yeah, you have to click and read each box---which I thought had gone out with the Super Nintendo) I've noticed quite a few spelling mistakes.  One of the lines from Chief Collig read "the guy gotted on his motorcycle and spead off."  I think Collig was meant to say "the guy got on his motorcycle and sped off."

Plus I must say that I'm having a hard time picking out a lot of the objects.  On one of the lists they ask you to find a chainsaw, and what you see as a "chainsaw" doesn't look like a chainsaw.

Also, I noticed that Dreamcatcher didn't bother to include an instructional manual in the game.

What was Dreamcatcher thinking?

Just found this cover online, but I'm not sure where this comes from- probably a different region release somewhere around the world.

Considering that it's got an 'RP' rating (Rating Pending) and its the American/Canadian rating logo, I would say it is probably an early solicitation cover.
