Title: Treasure on the Track
Post by: Lungbarrow on October 01, 2008, 10:03:28 AM
I found this looking for HB stuff at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Hardy-Boys-Treasure-Track-Nintendo-DS/dp/B001EN3YWI/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1222873113&sr=8-11

It appears to be a Hardy Boys game for the Nintendo DS due in 2009! I'm surprised I've not seen it mentioned here.

A quick web search has turned up a few extra mentions but little direct info. It appears to be developed by Sega.

Sega still make games, it's consoles they don't make any more. They still put out plenty of Sonic games for various consoles.

Ohhh. I didn't know that. I thought they sold Sonic off to another company.

Infact the Wii release of the Nancy Drew game The White Wolf of Icicle Creek is being configured for the Wii by Sega.  So, hopefully if this is another Hardy Boys game, it will be really well done and maybe the Hardys will meet Sonic.

Yeah, that would be awesome, you know moving the charachters by moving the remote around. The best thing to play games on is the Wii. It is just so awesome

Yeah that would be really fun...but what attacks would they have compared to, oh, Pikachu's Thunderbolt?

But if they could get Snake and Sonic on Super Smach Brothers Brawl, then I guess if the producers knew that people really wanted to see the boys on the next Smash Brothers...

Hopefully they'll use the Hardys from the Casefiles where they could at least give Frank some sort of gun and Joe a high-tech bow and arrow.

That would work in a detective game. When Joe walks up to a girl character they automatically give him all the information they know. ;D ;D

Yes, that is perfect, all of them fall downing staring at joe... No wait Frank, they all like him because he is the one they like but he always blushes his face off when they go near him... Except for Brynn, with Brynn he never did really blush.

I actually was serious that time. In the UBs, it's Frank that the girls like whether or not Joe wants to believe he's a chick magnet. Just pointing out a fact.

And most of the time, it's not me insulting the UBs or saying that others are automatically wrong because they are an "ATACer" or whatever. I only sometimes joke about the UBs, and generally that's it.

Hope that's clear...

Obviously what I said about Frank and Joe only applies if it's a UBs game.

What I was angry about was the "I think you mean". I knew exactly what I meant. I meant Joe.

And then Joe comes in and all the girls run away, to where they can stare at frank. But, Joe approaches them and tries to get a date, when they pass out.

Sorry, I didn't mean that literally. It's just how people say things sometimes ::)

So I should have said this: "It makes more sense for it to be Frank, at least in the UBs universe".

Post by: bozonessinc on October 07, 2008, 02:23:13 PM
It does make more sense for it to be frank because in the UB's he gets all the girls. I wander whether Joe does in the casefiles.

That would turn things around. So any of the casefiles specialists, let see your opinion here please and thank you.............. The Super Smash Bros Hardy Boys..... Edition...

According to gamefaqs.com, the game is being published by Dreamcatcher and XPEC, the same companies that made The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft, and it is due in the First Quarter of 2009.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/data/954339.html

Of course, Amazon.com now has a release date of March 17, 2009 up right now, with a price of $29.99 USD.

I finished the game in about 2 days. It was pretty easy, the only thing is  that I think it had a bug and got stuck. Thankfully I saved my progress before that happened, and the graphics were good. I hope they can continue making them, I'd buy another one.

Off topic:By the way does anyone notice that the price of books has gone up a lot lately.... I mean in general, I bought a book for a class that was like 8-9 dollars and it wasn't even hardback. Didn't they use to cost 5.50?

I enjoyed the game. I had problems at some points, but I really loved playing it. I agree with the more focus on the girl spy. Disarming the bomb was a lot of fun!

I've been playing The Hardy Boys: Treasure on the Tracks here and there some (as I don't have regular access to a Nintendo: DS)
but thankfully there is a save game option so I can continue my progress each chance I get to play the game. It's pretty fun so far.

I was wondering if anybody knows what the candy on the bench in the first train station is for. This is my second time playing the game, but still don't know the perpose of the candy. Is it an easter egg or something?

When I found the candy, I was just about to board the train at the first station in the game, in Paris I think.

Now I'm in the train and the dining hall is about to open. I'm past the scene with the bomb on the train tracks.

Took me 5 attempts, but those blasted puzzles you have to complete everytime the train reachs one of its destinations are way more fustrating. I am only able to solve them by memory, and you have to complete them to see the maps.

Amusingly, the title is "Young Detectives: Treasure on Tracks" in German. Probably because the Hardy Boys don't seem to be that familiar there (At least whenever I visit). Nancy Drew a little more, with the film and marketing push, and the Her Interactive games but she's a bit obscure as well.

And good to know the site (http://www.treasureonthetracks.com/) is still operational and you can still play the mini-game on there- it took me a while to beat this game on the Nintendo DS (especially since I could only play it when I was visiting with family who owned a DS) but it was fun to play and complete it.
