Title: Cold Sweat
Post by: Bigfootman on February 10, 2009, 05:25:43 PM
In my opinion, Cold Sweat was a sign of things to come for the casefiles. It was a sign that the ghostwriters were starting to get lazy, and were gonna make books that would have been better as digests.

The plot sounded fun, someone is causing trouble at a fittness club, and a member has already been killed.

However, what the back cover forgot to mention is that Chet is also being a huge jerk. His only perpose seems to get sent to the hospital, and the ghostwriter hasn't seemed to have read to the stories about Chet. This is not the Chet Mortion we know and love!

I was left even more fustrated at the lack of action. Most of the clifhangers had talking, and should not have ended the chapter. By the time the action gets going, it's a few chapters before the book ends, and by then, it's too late.

Oh yeah, a two year old could have figued out the bad guy in 5 chapters.

To make matters worse, this was the book before the much better OP trilogy. Skip this book and head to the OP trilogy instead.

The only good thing is the refence to the Tower Treasure, and even that is short-lived.

Good:
-Tower Treasure refence
-Some action near the end
-Chet seemed to have became nice again near the end of the book

Bad
-The criminals seems to have an evil plan to bore the readers to death
- And it's working.
-The book does not deserve to be right before the OP triogy

Rating: 3

Why did you like the book? I respect your opion, but could please explain why you have that opinion, besides the fact it was the first casefile you read?
