so I am reading the casefile #99 i think it is where joe and frank are in new orleans and joe is accused of a murder. how the ahuthor had no idea how the law in america works or how he could ommit it thinking it was ok cuz its a wrk of fiction is beyond me, cuz even for a fiction book, the scenarios the guys get in2 in this casefiles is too ridiculous. first, joe is 17, meaning he is a minor. when he gets arrested, his parents are not called. they should have been called however because he is still under their control till he turns 18. also, there are just too many ridiculous happenings 1 after another. i mean, they act like way older than high school kids. getting grenades thrown at them, shot at. i dk, its just way too far fetched. if they were at least ini their 20s itd be more believable.

and ive noticed this  not just 4 this book, but for most of the hardy books. they shoulda been older cuz they stuff they get in2 just doesnt make sense for their age.

well, it is a fiction series, I believe you are referring to Frame-Up. I have read that one and it is one of the more unbelievable ones because of how the legal system works. You're right. However, the Hardy Boys are escapist literature, not realist. It's ok for it to be unbelievable.

hey, im an animorphs fan, i know books of fiction are supposed to be an escape from reality, but alota the hardy books, especially frame up, are too much of a stretch  even 4 fiction. i mean the animorphs was about a group of middle school kids fighting off an alien invasion, and it was STILL more believable than alota the hardy boy books i read ::) dont get me wrong, im a hardy boys fan, but i must say, they didnt have the best ghost writers all the time

sorry, im afraid that theory doesnt apply to me. i can enjoy reading the unbelievable (hence my love of fantasy and sci-fi) but when it is ridiculously believable, and just way too much, then i spend too much time criticizing the story line, cuz my brain just cant handle the ridiculousness

The majority of the Casefiles had the Hardys ducking from grenades and bombs.  Just look at Dead On Target.  The Hardys and their friends were tied to pillar with plastique around it.
VHS, S-VHS, Super Betamax, Mini DV, MicroMV, Betacam SP, U-Matic SP - NTSC/PAL/SECAM.  All transferred to DVD!

ya i kno, but its still more believable than a 17 yr old getting arrested and being able to keep his parents out of it ::)  and i finally finished that book. def 1 of the most far fetched ones ive read in a while. i dk, why didnt the authors just make the hardys college age, at least 4 the casefiles? it woulda made more sense

Or how about a government agency sending them to stop a murder at a food eating contest during half-time at the Super Bowl?

nope, dont know that 1. but them getting involved with the terrorist organizations at all was too much 4 me, cuz i mean, theyre hight school kids! regardless of them being the hardy boys or not.

Olivia

Them getting involved with terrorist organizations?

Well, they don't get involved with them. Somehow they get connected to them. (I suppose that could be considered the same diff, but whatever). And second, I think there are just as many "unbelievable" events in hmm, what is the newest series called? Oh yeah...

Un
Believable

The Originals can be also considered "unbelievable" with how they always solve the case in a specific formula, and so on.

But I'm just getting carried away. I think the point was to discuss the high level of unbelievability.

ya, the parents were contacted by the boys themselves once joe was already out of jail. his parents woulda been contacted by the police while he was still under arrest because he is under 18

NZone

no, they contacted them as soon as Joe was arrested
