The plot summary for this book is available from Amazon.com -

Joe and Frank?s winter break skiing holiday turns to horror in this Hardy Boys adventure?a fresh approach to a classic series.
Frank and Joe are thrilled to spend winter break hitting the slopes at the Granite Peak Lodge ski resort. What could be better than an action-packed week of skiing and snowboarding set against a scenic mountain landscape?

But their plans hit an unexpected bump when a blizzard blows in, closing the roads and leaving the boys stranded in the lodge with several others. Meanwhile, a series of deadly mishaps threatens to sabotage the resort?and the lives of its trapped guests.

First, a fellow vacationer nearly freezes solid when he?s locked out during the raging storm. Then, the lodge?s electricity is cut off, broken glass turns up in the breakfast waffles, and a resort employee is buried in a snowdrift. Who?s behind these sinister acts? Is the culprit trapped in the lodge with them? The Hardys are determined to find out?before they?re caught in an avalanche of danger.

...........................................................................................

WOW! This one sounds really exciting to me- I like the concept of the possible hidden criminal (or maybe even murderer) trapped in the snow lodge with The Hardys and the guests. I like the ski lodge setting and the mystery set up- this sounds like it might be a good Christmas mystery read too [though I don't know if it's set at Christmas, but it's at least obviously set during winter.]

Yes, this sounds like Agatha Christie meets the Hardy Boys!  ;D It also reminds me of a short story in the first Supersleuths collection, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

You might be thinking of The Secret Of Mountaintop Inn aka Nancy Drew And The Hardy Boys Solve A Christmas Mystery.

But the plot also reminds me of the plot for the 4th Nancy Drew computer game.

That's the one. Thanks Trevor!

I see someone has added the title Battle of Bayport as the sixth title in the Adventures series to be released on The Hardy Boys Wiki page (http://hardyboys.wikia.com/wiki/Hardy_Boys_Adventures). Anyone know anything on this?

It's mentioned on Wikipedia as well. I wish people would cite references for these things but where would you stop if it was enforced? What reference do you need to cite for already published books? Perhaps we should enforce referencing for mentions of as-yet-unpublished books only? Well, that's probably a discussion for the talk pages of the wiki but hardly anyone edits there anymore since WHLFan disappeared off the scene!
Still, since it's not on the Simon & Schuster website yet, I'd still love to know where people get this information from.

I wonder if maybe someone has an inside connection at Simon & Schuster? Maybe it's the ghostwriter himself or herself, wanting to boost their book? I don't know- I guess we'll find out soon enough if it's accurate.

Oh yeah- and I do think requesting a citation for books yet-to-be published would be a good idea. (Though I don't know if everyone would follow it- and if it's a case like I suggested in my last post, they may not be able to offer any citations in any case.)

I'm currently reading "Peril At Granite peak".  I'm finding that the plot is a mash-up of the "Nancy Drew Files #3 Murder On Ice" and "Hardy Boys #78 "Cave-In".  It's also nice to see The Queen make a reappearance---but I've got to question the use of the word 'jalopy'---just how many kids are going to understand that it means a rust-bucket of a car?

Very cool to see The Queen show up!!! I take it that means Chet Morton also appears in the book- hopefully with Iola as well? And maybe even a scene at the Morton farm?
True, kids may not know what a jalopy is (I'm particularly familiar with the word not only because of The Hardy Boys but also because of Archie Comics- Archie Andrews is famous for driving a red jalopy too :) 8))- but I also think it's good to introduce kids to vocabulary words that they can go look up.

Chet's in the book, but not Iola.  And it is set nowhere near Bayport.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the info. Well- still cool to see Chet and his car anyway.
