Over on another group someone pointed people to this article from the Carolina Weekly Newspaper from July about Rudy Nappi.

For those who don't know Rudy Nappi painted the cover art for The Hardy Boys by Grosset & Dunlap for, first covers, #32 The Crisscross Shadow (1953) through to #58 Sting Of The Scorpion(1979) and The Hardy Boys Detective Handbook.  He also did revised art for Original Texts in the 1950's and 1960's.

As for the Revised Texts of the Hardy Boys, Rudy Nappi did the following covers: The Hardy Boys Detective Handbook, #'s 1-15, 17, 18, 20-23, 25-38, which are all still in print.

Rudy Nappi also became the main illustrator for the Nancy Drew Grosset & Dunlap books from the early 1950's through to 1979.

The article is mostly about Nappi's work for the Nancy Drew series, but it does touch and show some of his Hardy Boys.  Infact, the picture that Nappi is holding in the photo captioned "Nappi and his wife, Peggy, in his Waxhaw studio" is for the third cover of the Original text of The Clue Of The Broken Blade from 1967 (Nappi would Revise his cover for the book only 3 short years later when Grosset & Dunlap wanted a new cover for the 1970 Revised text of the same book).

I skimmed through it. Pretty interesting.

There are a lot of dedicated people behind ND & HBs over the years.
