Back in the early 90's I remember reading a magazine, which I think was published by Focus On The Family, where there was a parody story called "The Hardly Boys" where the author took the concept of the Hardy Boys series and kept most of the characters but changed their names enough (ie. Chet Morton=Chet Mountain) to make it a parody about how the boys never seem to be in life-threatening danger in the Hardy Boys series, but in this story someone was sending them warnings saying that they were going to die.  And, because it was a Christian magazine, the end had a moral about how we've all inheirited our sinful nature from our parent's because of Adam and Eve's disobedience and God's decision to have us live for only so long on this earth before we die.
VHS, S-VHS, Super Betamax, Mini DV, MicroMV, Betacam SP, U-Matic SP - NTSC/PAL/SECAM.  All transferred to DVD!

Yes! I read that too. But I'm pretty mad because one of my family members lost that edition and I really wanted to keep it!!! >:(  And that was the Clubhouse magazine.

Cool! I remember Clubhouse- that's good stuff. I used to get the Breakaway magazine too. That's also a neat concept to illustrate the fall of man and the need for Christ's forgiveness.  :)

Here's another parody.

I remember a Fox Trot strip that used the Hardly Boys pun too.

I'm not on here as much or I just come on for a few moments. So I trying to keep up with posts. Sorry for being MIA. I've been off on a mission with Frank and Joe! :)

Hahaha- I've actually borrowed that video from the library before just because it was a Hardy Boys parody. Nice find. William Wegman- classic stuff. It was always funny seeing his talking dogs on Sesame Street. ;D

Sorry for the double post but I found something I had to share. Keep watching all the way through. I think the bloopers are funny.

The Dresden Files mentions the Hardys. Police Officer Murphy says "OK so you're Nancy Drew. Which Hardy are you?" Episode 9 The Other Dick She was asking Harry Dresden who is a wizard and private investigator. The show is based on the novels by Jim Butcher.

Also, the new series on Toon Network, Unnatural History was described as a cross between the Hardy Boys and Indiana Jones. This was during a promo commercial. This show can be watched on Sunday nights.

Here's a pretty cool promo for the premiere of The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries in 1977 on ABC! 8) (I always loved that the show incorporated the book covers in some fashion throughout all 3 seasons.)

Just watched the first part and noticed Shannen Doherty is in it. That was before her 90210 days and probably near the time of Heathers. Wow.

ALF had a few funny moments in this, but for the most part- I think it's only worth having on DVD for the big time ALF completists- I wouldn't mind it as an extra on one of the season DVDs and I am glad I finally got to see it- but I'm sure it would be fairly tricky to get it to DVD- though I would imagine all the shows there would still be owned by NBC. I actually wouldn't have minded having ALF's appearance on Blossom included as an extra- that's a great and funny appearance for ALF. (If you're interested, just look for "The Geek" episode on Youtube.)

NBC probably owns a few of the shows, but just like Alf, other companies own the different shows.
