Just for the fun of it, I thought I'd categorize every Casefile by the type of story they are. I'm going to try to keep the number of story "types" or "categories" as small as possible. I'd like all your input, since I haven't read all the Casefiles - and what would be the point of posting this here if everybody didn't join in?

So far I've got the following categories. We'll probably need more, so post your ideas below. Again, though, keep in mind I'd like to keep the amount of types/categories as low as possible.

Network vs. Assassins: I think the name is pretty self explanatory. This category is for any story that revolves around the battle between The Network and the Assassins. Stories in this category, will also, often feature a sup-plot or even mean plot line involving the death of Iola, and it's after math. In fact you could say "Iola stories" is a subcategory of the "Network vs. Assassins" category. The most obvious example of a "Network vs. Assassins story" would, of course, be Dead on Target - the first of them all! Other prime examples are The Lazarus Plot and the Ring of Evil Trilogy.

Personal: Most of the time the Hardys are just solving other people's problems, but not in these stories! "Personal stories" are about, well, that get personal. Dead on Target is definitely a Personal story, but since I've categorized it with the Network/Assassins stories, I'm not going to include it here. Often Network/Assassins stories can fit in this category, because of the Iola plotlines. It's just depends on what category you feel the story belongs in more...let the debates begin! Examples of Personal stories are Brother Against Brother and Witness to Murder.

Classic: These stories are classic, because they're like the Original series, in that the Hardys are just solving a mystery for a client/friend etc, as opposed to the Personal stories, listed above. Also Classic stories usually (but not always) have the Hardys working alone, rather then working with an organization. I think The Deadliest Dare is one of the best examples of a Classic story.

Again, I'd like all the in-put I can get, so, please, post your suggestions and comments. Have fun!

Note: Lets try to keep this thread spoiler free...like I said, I haven't read all the Casefiles. If you feel the need to post a spoiler, however, to make a point or something, please, give us a warning.

Olivia

Good idea! The categories chosen are just right too. I like it.

SDLagent

Tom, how are The Number File, Street Spies, Disaster For Hire, and The Borderline Case more personal then A Killing in the Market, Witness to Murder, and Double Exposure?

Spoiler Warning
In both A Killing in the Market, and Witness to Murder, a Hardy is suspected of murder. And in Double Exposure someone claims to be their brother. All pretty Personal, IMO.

I don't think they're should be a "Awfull" story - lots of topics have rated the Casefiles by how "good" or "bad" they are. This is different.

I am wondering about "sports", "pop culture", and "environmental" categories.  Or perhaps Bayport, US, Non-US categories.  Oh, there are so many directions one might go with the categorization process.

SDLagent

Go ahead and make up the list, SkyWarp! LOL! I'm interested in seeing everybody's.

Well, I know that if you did a sports category, Collision Course, Spiked! & Hot Wheels could go in that one, but then Hot Wheels could also go under the Environmental category along with Toxi Revenge.  Non-US would have to include Countdown To Terror & Strategic Moves

What about combining "sports" and "pop culture" to make an "entertainment" category? An "environmental" category sounds good.

Combining the two is probably a good idea.
