Title: Dollhouse Miniatures
Post by: hardygirl847 on December 10, 2010, 12:13:47 PM
I was searching for something on Amazon.com and found a link to this site. It appears that they have dollhouse miniatures of well known books, etc.

Take a look here... (http://miniaturebookshelf.com/items/dollhouse-miniature-books-by-title/hardy-boys-the-mystery-of-cabin-island-franklin-w-dixon-fwd-themysteryofcabinisland-detail.htm)

"Not intended for reading."  ::)  lol!

If you do a search for Hardy Boys, 6 titles come up. The Tower Treasure, The House on the Cliff, The Mystery of Cabin Island, Footprints Under the Window, While the Clock Ticked, and The Shore Road Mystery are the titles listed.

Click this for the 6 books. http://miniaturebookshelf.com/search_items.asp (http://miniaturebookshelf.com/search_items.asp)

The covers are older cover art too. $5.99 for a small, fake book. I know if I still had Barbies, they might be interested in reading them.  ;D

For giggles, I searched for Nancy Drew books. 43 PAGES...of about  9 or so a page. Ugh...again, Hardy Boys get shafted. However, I do realize that dollhouses are usually for girls (lol) and ND is more "girly" so to speak. In that sense, I suppose it makes sense.

But still....ugh.  Go here if you're curious.... http://miniaturebookshelf.com/search_items.asp (http://miniaturebookshelf.com/search_items.asp)

Some of them are just a little bigger than a penny!

Ha ha. That's funny (in a good way).

BTW, did Barbie and Ken break up? I heard something like this a long time ago, but I think they got back together (not even kidding).

Yeah, I heard this too. I was pretty devestated. I mean, seriously- Ken and Barbie? They've been one of the most stable couples around- going out for at least 50 years or so now, I think. I guess they had to get them back together for their appearance in Toy Story 3- it was good to see them back together where they belong. :D

This is funny. Ken and Barbie break up...and she gets the dream house. LOL

QuoteBarbie was holed up in her Dream House with friends and family, according to Sunshine, who also represents human Hollywood stars Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake and Leonardo DiCaprio. It wasn't clear where Ken was staying.

QuoteAnd other whisperings that Barbie and Ken are secretly sister and brother weren't even touched on.

Wow. lol.

And they're saying it was probably a "publicity stunt". Of course.

LOL Normally with silly things like this you assume it was a slow news day. However, since it was Ken and Barbie, it was actually a HUGE story, if I remember correctly. EVERYONE was talking about it.

ok...that is so ridiculous it's pathetic! i don't even like ken. actually, come to think of it, i don't even really like barbie either! but COME ON people! who cares if those two break up!? it's soooo stupid! and if what i've heard is correct, wouldn't that supposedly make real girls dump their guys? whatev. the ridiculousness of that all was...epic. no other word for it.

It's just that it's an iconic relationship, even if it is among plastic dolls. It'd be the same as hearing about Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse breaking up- it's just unfathomable.

lol Speaking of dolls and such...didn't they make a Parker and Shaun doll back in the 70s?? I wouldn't mind having one of those or both as keepsakes. :)

Okay, not really- these honestly are more like the Ken dolls of Barbie fame.

Those dolls are somewhat strangely almost TOO well done. :)

There are some on Ebay. Right now all I see are ones that are over $60!

Then there's "Sleuth Essentials Adventure Set for Hardy Boys"...for $49!

The Sleuths Essentials Set was released by Tonner for their $120 USD figures that Simon & Schuster seemed to licence to tie in with the launch of the Undercover Brothers series (and for some people, the Joe figure looks like it was just a reuse of the Harry Potter action figure that Tonner had made---especially since Joe was wearing glasses).

Interesting. I didn't see an image of the dolls though. $120 for a knock off Harry Potter??  ::)

I don't think the Tonner dolls are worth it at all. I've seen pics of them before and I can't say I'm terribly impressed. I'd honestly rather have the Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson Hardy Boys figures than those.

It seems to be that Tonner did the exact same thing as the production company for the Shaun Cassidy/Parker Stevenson Hardy Boys dolls from the 70's with the Hardy Boys and the Star Wars Luke Skywalker doll---except that back then that was a test run just meant to see how the body of the doll would look while using an already existing head for the toy and Fox execs to see.

Here's a good link with some more info and pics. Wow...they look girly and WAY too expensive!

I can't remember if I've posted this before- but if you want some Hardy Boys figures beyond the Tonner ones or the 1970s TV show ones, there're also the 1969 cartoon ones!
http://www.toycollector.com/index.php?option=com_myblog&show=the-hardy-boysa-a-a-rolls-royce-corgia-a-a-s-most-obscure-far-out-character-toyhtml&Itemid=86477

(Very nice entry here about Corgi's Rolls-Royce that was released in conjunction with The Hardy Boys cartoon show. And it came with figurines of Wanda Kay, Pete Jones, Chet "Chubby" Morton, and Frank and Joe Hardy. There are also some nice screencaps from the cartoon and just some good general information about its history.) :)

I wasn't saying they were the greatest- just wanted you all to know they are out there (well, somewhere on Ebay for a lot of money, I'm sure.) The car itself is kinda cool though. And it's nice to have any figurines of the Hardy Boys and Chet.
Of course, I think I like the model van from the '70s show even better when it comes to vehicles. :)
Title: Re: Dollhouse Miniatures
Post by: hardygirl847 on February 14, 2011, 04:13:20 PM
Compared to the emo dolls and the cartoon figurines (minus the car), 1970s Parker, Shaun, and van....RULE over all!
Title: Re: Dollhouse Miniatures
Post by: MacGyver on February 15, 2011, 12:55:46 AM
I wonder if the Parker and Shaun dolls would actually fit in that van- from the pictures I've seen I'm pretty sure they aren't scaled for it- but then it is only a model kit. I wish they had released a 3 3/4 inch line action figure set with a toy van. That would have been cool. I suppose we only would have seen Frank and Joe action figures, but they could have done one for Nancy Drew too. Maybe even Fenton Hardy and Carson Drew as well. And a playset for the Hardy house with Frank and Joe's crime lab would have been neat.

Oh Mac. You are too funny. I love how guys say that dolls are really action figures. I also love how you'd like a vehicle and dream house for them too.

You crack me up! But I agree. That would rock.
Title: Re: Dollhouse Miniatures
Post by: MacGyver on February 16, 2011, 03:30:12 PM
It's all in marketing. Dolls aimed at boys sound WAY cooler as action figures than "dolls". I mean- stuffed animal is okay as a term, but doll is just way too far into the pink zone. ;D
And that technically is the preferred term to specifically refer to 3 3/4 inch toys. Doll generally refers more to 12 inch toys- like the Indiana Jones doll that was made for Raiders of the Lost Ark and the original G.I. Joe dolls from the 1960s.

little girl: "i want a miley cyrus doll!"
little boy: "and i want a justin beiber!"

Mac,

I find it funny that there needs to be a distinction between dolls for girls and action figures for boys. :) But I see what you're saying.

As for Bieber, I saw his movie last weekend. Not in 3D...but it was really, REALLY good. It's more than just about him...it's about following your dreams too. But it gave me a whole new respect for him. Now I just can't get enough! My mom even told me I could burn her a cd of his music. LOL She was singing "baby" in the parking lot. I should add that my mom and I are both young at heart. :)

But I am a Biebler now. I'm a 27 yr old married woman who loves Justin Bieber!! :) I think it's my inner tween getting her boy fix. LOL There are many times I'm on here typing away but rocking out to the Biebster.

Thanks for sharing!

More and more, I'm starting to find that J.B. is actually pretty good compared to a lot of the "entertainers" out there and it's nice to see he has good values. I hope it stays that way. (His mother actually talked to a music executive extensively before she even considered putting Justin in the music industry because of how damaging it can be to a person).

Now that you've said all that, I may consider going to see the movie on my own. Believe it or not, I don't know anyone around here that doesn't dislike him...and we're from J.B.'s home country!

P.S. Apparently there's a hoopla about him getting a haircut. I've seen it, and I think it looks fine.

One thing I can say for Justin Bieber- he does seem to have some good values and I respect that. He has said that he is against abortion and I definitely agree with him there. I haven't heard any bad songs from him that I know of- and his Pray song is really nice, certainly rife with a good message. I still don't care much for his style of music, but he's not a bad singer by any means.

But still, he made fun of himself on that superbowl commercial, and it was awesome! :D

And really, I have nothing against him as a person, he seems really ..... normal, and down to earth. I just dislike his music. I might actually go see his movie.

Okay...I was not a huge Bieber fan but I have to say I really like him now. I've seen both versions of the movie. Once with my mom and she even liked it. We cried, we laughed, we got our dance on. It was awesome. The second time was last night when I saw the new version. I also liked it a lot.

He's a cute kid and does NOT look like a girl. Now that he cut his hair and donated it to charity, he looks a little older. He's almost 17.

I like his music...more so of the newer more dance type tunes but still. He's REALLY talented and is a REALLY hard worker.

I am 27 yrs old and married but I am a new Biebler. He rocks in my opinion.

Mac, I agree that Pray is a really great song!

People should stop hating and at least give him some props for all that he does do.

Definitely see the movie. If you don't see the Fan cut, the first version is just as good. It has a little less of his family and friends, but it's REALLY fun and inspirational.

I call it the cheapest concert I've ever been to. :) I had to restrain myself from dancing in my seat or singing out loud.

Maybe I'm just a big dork. HEHE

Wait...how did we get on the subject of my inner tween crush Justin?! lol
