Barmet Bay, located southeast of Bayport, is a great place to fish or swim in the summer. Bayport residents can also enjoy jogging or running on the bay's beach or on the road that runs along the cliffs overlooking Barmet Bay.

Barmet Bay is often frozen solid in the winter months, except for a channel kept open by the shipping lines and coast guard.
